Each corner has been decorated with sprays of perfect pink poppies– two fully open flowers and one bud- all embroidered with exquisite stitch work clearly worked by a skilled person. The flowers are in shades of pink silks with emerald and jade green foliage. The petals have been carefully embroidered with smooth satin stitch edged with buttonhole stitch and have an almost three dimensional appearance. They are soft ... moreand silky replicating the fine tissue-like petals of the poppy flowers. The centres are stitched with black French knots and accents of yellow- perfect to compliment the silky smooth Irish linen. The pattern name is Rose Sprays. The pattern number is 10003 and a RD number is 468736. The back stamp is The Foley China with the Wileman logo underneath. The condition is excellent antique. Not new, being free from cracks, chips or visible crazing and all pieces ping! The gilding is intact. It is normal tea size. I.e. the cup stands 6.5cms tall, the saucer is 14cms in diameter, and the plate is 17.5cms in diameter. The pattern features stylized Pink Roses with Green leafage on a white background. Circa 1947-1960 from Longton, Staffordshire, England The Plant family had been making pottery in Longton in the late 18th century. About 1900 two Plant brothers established a major factory called Tuscan Works that in 1915 became R.H. S.L. Plant Ltd. On the factory building were the words. Our Work. Our Pride. Tuscan Works produced what was considered a fine line of china made by adding bone ash to a clay mixture. In ... more1970 the plant was acquired by Wedgwood, the world-famous ceramic maker and by 2006 the plant closed. This superb quality china has color that is bright and vivid on the high white of the cup's fine bone china. The cup and saucer are tied together by the use of the same striking Provence pattern on the saucer and cup. Both the cup& saucer are highlighted with gold trim. While this cup& saucer set is classified as used. We can find no utensil wear, defects or damage. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the vivid color and no crazing. There are no chips, nicks, cracks, hairlines, scratches, rubbing or repairs to this stunning set. Refer to the photos to assess the condition for yourself. Along with the brand and pattern, it says D3548R and#597783. These may be make/model numbers. But we are not positive. It also says Made in England. This is a very nice plate. It is a previously owned item. So there is some shelf wear but there are no cracks or chips. I also do not see any utensil marks or scrapes. It would make a wonderful addition to any kitchen to either use or put on display. Just a few quick notes for you!
