The focus and intensity adjusters work. The trace is nice and sharp no fuzz. I keyed 10MHZ for the center freq and 15MHz for the span freq. I connected the HP 3585a to my Tektronix signal generator and a 50 ohm load and dialed up a rough 10MHz on the generator. See the HP 3585 response to that circuit in the photo below. It works! Cool. I tested it from 50Hz to 13MHz the highest freq of my signal generator. It picked up the 60Hz from my room lights. I got about 3 divisions of signal. When I turned the room. Lights off the signal went away. It's very sensitive. The marker works- See the photo. You move it around with the black knob. The digital displays are all working. Fc and Span inputs work. Auto Range for the input signal works. Single/Cont sweep works. Start/Stop freq buttons work. Diplay Intensity and Focus knobs work. 85 pounds. 23D 17W 9"H. Tested: Bad Stuff: The keypad buttons work but they need exercise. Sometimes if I didn't hit them. Hard enough I had to poke them several times to get a change. ORIGINAL 101ST SIGNAL BN DI-DUI-PIN-BOWMAN-SB-RAISED MOTTO
Condition is excellent. This is one of a collection of 600 DIs that I acquired several years ago. They were all meticulously mounted and spaced on a large framed board. Each location for the more than 560 screw back DIs was counterbored to accommodate the nut. This collection was put together in the 1930s. And after over 70 years of exposure a thin layer of grime has developed. As a result, the colors do not appear as true or bright as they would if cleaned. The bell is solid brass with a cast iron mount and clapper. There is a Elizabeth Regina mark on the top of the bell and next to the Regina mark there are two other markings; SCC 12/52" and"S.C.C. 7. According to the John Taylor Bell Foundry the 12/52 indicates December 1952 and the S.C.C. could stand for Surrey County Council. On the opposite side are the initials Q.M. Possibly from the Queen Mary and used as a signal or quarter deck bell. There are two stripes around the bottom of the bell. A nice bell to add to your collection!
