These are extremely nice shelters. They set up like the USGI half shelter and use metal buttons instead of snaps, these are less than half the weight of the old canvas ones. Austrian Army nylon shelter half. Comes in a nice carrying pouch with 4 stakes and 4 poles. The pouch measures 9" x 13" Stakes and poles are aluminum. Each half weighs about 2 3/4 lbs. Whereas the USGI comes in about 6 lbs per half. If you are thinking about a half shelter tent this is the one to have. These are great dog houses that can be easily disinfected because the tops come off. This has a CUSTOM MADE DOOR which is At Least twice as thick as the doors usually made for plastic dog houses. This one helps keep drafts out from poorly fit doors or lightweight doors that blow open in a strong wind. It is attached with heavy metal hangers(rather than screws that pin the door to the house) for longer life and ease of entry and exiting. I also have 4 plastic dog carriers along with some wire cages. If someone locally breeds dogs it would be a great way to pick up a lot of supplies all in one place! Clam Expedition Ice Fishing Shelter
Auction is for one used CLAM Expedition Ice shelter. It is classified as a 5'x6' shelter with a 72” center height. The box says it will fish 2-3 anglers. I bought as a demo from a store and set it up twice. The first time was when I got it and the second time for the photos for this ad. I never had it on the ice. It’s in good condition. With no rips, no tears, no broken poles, but the shelter does show signs of use. Today I found there was some sewing done at some point for one of the rod holders, and you can see the black thread from the repair in one of the photos. It’s in the same place as sewing on other corners, but those were done in blue thread. It comes with the original box, carrying case, four ice stakes and ropes and the instructions. A young woman who went to South Carolina to teach freed slaves. It talks a lot about a young child who is being whipped seeking refuge in the schools where Catherine taught along with Elizabeth Botume, a well known educator to the African Americans. It has great content throughout. It says in part: I heard a little girl at the roadside calling out Miss Botume and she came running along at a great speed till she reached the buggy. You hardly ever see one of these children more quiet and I said that it was strange for her exert herself so much but she began to speak to Miss B very excitedly and asked her to please take her home to live with her for she said her mother whipped her ... morelike a dog. Drove her out of the house. She cried and sobbed dreadfully, and I felt terribly for her. I wanted to take her away with us or at any rate to go and see her mother but Miss Botume was tired and said she did not feel able to have a contest with the woman and that it was best to go and see some of the neighbors first. So went to a number and they told us the same story. One woman said sometimes they whipped the child and she heard crying for more than an hour an one time they took the child and tied her to a stump out in the field. We did not go to the woman but after Miss B said she wished she had for it seemed dreadful to think of the poor little thing throwing herself on our protection and then leaving her. When we had driven an eight of a mile from the house we heard terrible screams that we took to be the mother, so it seems to e a hard case… We had a visit from a very amusing woman tonight. She came up to get a flannel shirt for a sick daughter. Miss B asked her some questions about her old master. Mr Verdieu, and she had a great deal to say on the subject.
