Up for bids is this antique Copper Barn Lightning Rod with the original stand and Milk Glass Lightning Rod Ball. Stamping on the tip says" D x S Des Moines" This great looking old rod was salvaged from an old turn of the century era barn that was being taken down here in southeast minnesota. It has beautiful. Old, weather tarnished copper and iron patinas and would make an eye catching piece in any collection. The old copper rod is complete with a very sharp point on the top and the ground wire clip on the bottom. It is just under 54" tall. The old Milk-Glass Ball is free of any cracks but does have the normal worn edges on the ends from weathering and wearing against the stand and rod that’s found on all old glass lightning rod balls. This is an outstanding ink well in the shape of a snail dated May 14. 1878. The base is made of metal and the well is victorian milk glass. It measures approximately 5" in length and is 3 1/4" high. The width is approximately 2" The milk glass well pivots in a motion that would allow it to seal against a decorated stopper. This stopper would keep the ink from evaporating. What a beauty! It is in very nice"used" condition. There is a tiny black speck in the glass on the top, and there is a black mark in the glass on the underside of the pedestal. We have circled both of these in the pictures. There is a circular mark in the glass on the top of the stand, seen when held up to bright light, probably from another piece of glass sitting on the banana stand for an extended period of time. Hopefully you will be able to see its condition in the pictures, please bid accordingly. It is approximately 6 5/8" tall. 10 ½" long and 8 ½" wide. Antique Barn Lightning Rod w/ Stand & White Milk Glass Ball ~ Old Rustic Decor
Up for bids at auction: Up for bids is this antique lightning rod with its original white glass lightning rod ball. This old rod was salvaged from a turn of the century era barn that was being taken down here in Southern Iowa. It has a good stand with no broken feet and the old copper rod carries a great looking old weathered tarnished green patina. The glass ball is a Milk White slag glass type with lots of swirls and texture in the old glass. The ends of the ball are a little worn like they always are. But no major chips or cracks. As you can see in the pictures the rod does not go all the way down to the bottom of the stand and is broke off at the bottom- it was that way for years and seems to be able to stand that way. Overall. Height from the feet to the tip of the stand is 56 inches tall. The copper rod is 36 inches long and the glass ... moreball has a diameter of 4 1/2- 5 inches. It's just a neat old lightning rod and ball set. Clean and ready to display anywhere. The items I sell are Barn and Farmhouse finds from old farm estates throughout Iowa. Illinois, and Missouri. Antique Baby Plate with Stand -Cat Drinking Milk - Old and Nice -LOOK!
This is an excellent antique baby plate from the early 20 th century. It has a large center design of a cat with a pink bow drinking milk. Not recommended for adult cats these days! The plate's outer rim has a nice gold unworn design. There is some very light crazing and a few tiny scratches probably from a hungry child which I have never considered a flaw in my own collection. But as a part of the history of the item. The plate has a very sturdy stand which came with it. And I have never tried to remove to avoid any damage. It is signed by D. E. Nicol Pottery Co. Huge White Milk Glass Rib Top Pot & Matching Stand HTF
A vintage and huge white milk glass planter pot and stand of unknown origin to me. It is simular to the 1930s Akro Agate ribbed top pots. And may well haqve been produced in competition with them. Both pieces do show alot of firey orange color when held to light; the pot has a pronounced inner rim 1 1/2" down from the top on the interior; and there is a center drain- hole that has been punched out. With No maker's mark on the base on either piece. The pot measures a whopping 6 1/2" tall. And a 6" diameter at the top. The stand measures 5 1/8" diameter. Stands 1 1/4" high, and has 3 raised ledges on the inside thaqt the pot rests on. allowing water to drain out and be sucked back in as needed. NEITHER piece has any damage of any kind. no chips. Flakes, dings. Cracks, repairs, etc. The exterior design on both pieces ... morewas meant to resemble the ribbing of the Akro Agate Co. Exterior ribs on the Akro pots all go" outward" ribbing on these pieces goes" inward" Did I mention that this is a HUGE 6 1/2" tall? Akro's tallest Rib Top Pot is 4 3/8" even their rare Combo Pot is only 5" tall. I can't remember ever seeing one of these before. So it really could be a rare pot afterall.

3 Vintage WESTMORELAND HOBNAIL Milk Glass BANANA BOWL STAND & Pair HAT VASES
This is for three pieces of vintage milk glass. The pedestal banana bowl and pair of hat vases. I grew up with milk glass in the 40's and these were 3 pieces that my mother gave me in the late 1950's from her collection. The two matching hat vases were made by Westmoreland Glass Company in the Diamond Hobnail pattern. They measure 2 1/2" tall x 3 3/4" long and base is 2 1/2" wide. The footed pedestal banana bowl was made by Westmoreland in the English Hobnail pattern. Banana bowl is very pretty. Especially with fruit displayed inside and measures little over 5 1/2" tall x almost 7 1/2" long x little over 4 1/2" wide. All three pieces are in EXCELLENT VINTAGE CONDITION with no chips. Cracks, discoloration or scratches. Some of my pictures did not come out the nice bright white that the milk glass is. Green ... moreon the bottom of the bowl is just little felt protector pads. The foot of the pedestal is scalloped. There is some yellowing where the pedestal was adhered to the plate but this is common with this brand. It has not been repaired. The skirting around the top edge conceals where the top attaches to the pedestal. Size: Measures 6.75 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. Age: Unknown. Condition: Good. There is a faint hairline on the top of the plate(see pic 6) that can be seen but does not affect the integrity of this piece. Getting married at a winery?
