Antique Early 1900's Pfaff Hand Crank Sewing Machine w/ Case & Key Model 11
In 1862. Georg Michael Pfaff, an instrument maker by trade, made his first sewing machine and founded the G. M. PFAFF sewing machine factory in Kaiserslautern, Germany. This talented master craftsman developed his machines further and continuously up-dated the production shops of his company. It did not take long before he abandoned individual manual production to change over to steam-driven drilling, milling and planing machines. Ten years later. Pfaff was already producing a thousand machines a year with 30 employees; the share of exports was 50% In 1874 Pfaff introduced a company sickness benefit scheme for his employees and a fund for the surviving dependants of deceased workers. Jakob Pfaff, the eldest son of Georg Michael Pfaff, introduced Pfaff advertising and the sales organisation; the latter first consisted of travelling salesmen ... moreand later exclusive agencies. In 1885 he opened a sewing machine shop in London. The PFAFF factory was continuously extended and modernised. From 1880 to 1890 it employed 400 workers on a regular basis. This is a fantastic antique hand crank sewing machine. Made in the the early 1900's by Pfaff in Kaiserslautern. Germany. It is model#11. Comes with the original wood carrying case& key. Crank turns smoothly. Everything seems to be in working order. Machine has a storage compartment on the side of the machine. That slides open by a wooden door(see 11th pic) Also has an attached pin cushion on the door. There is an inlayed ruler running the length of the base(see 7th pic) Please remember this machine is about 100 years old. So there is some wear to the paint. Chrome and wood. The thin layer of wood underneath the machine is broken(see 12th pic) It doesn't affect the performance and could probably be replaced if you wanted to. Also. One of the latches on the case is broken, so even though the case locks with the key, the top will come off if you pick it up by the handle. This is a heavy piece weighing 32 pounds. However in that this would have been nearly a hundred years ago it is hard to say exactly what it was used for at the old cannery. They manufactured a wide variety of household products over the years. Many of these brands were marketed under the"Brand Universal" including this bread maker. The assets were sold to General Electric in 1965. This bread maker won the Gold Medal in 1904 at the St Louis Exposition. It is in good condition. But could use a good cleaning. It comes with all the parts and measures 15 inches wide by 13 inches tall. If you are a collector, this is a wonderful item from years gone by.

Antique Civil War Era Cast Iron Sewing Machine Original Paint Hand Crank Model
For your consideration is an early 1860's sewing machine. The small machine was most likely manufactured by Weir or Raymond. Though not marked. All the cast iron is intact with no breaks or repairs. The wheel and gears crank smoothly and the levered presser foot works nicely as well. The small wooden handle has a crack in it on one side(see last photo, close to the wheel) It does not detract and is firmly attached, I just wanted to mention it. The finish is original, retaining much of the painted decorations. There are paint chips, scratches and tarnish adding to the pieces wonderful character. This auction is for a Antique hand crank sewing machine. It has a nice ornate paint pattern. It is 14" long. 8" across and 10" tall. This moves freely when the crank is turned. It is not marked by a maker so i do not know who or when it was made. It is cast iron. There are some sections where the paint design is worn off. Some of the black paint is worn as well. This 1890c Wilcox and Gibbs Hand Crank Sewing Machine is in good condition and was manufactured in New York. This is the export version of the W&G. The machine was made in New York and shipped to England where the wooden base and hand crank were added. Only the British version of this machine was fitted with a hand crank. This basic design was used during and after the Civil War. This machine is a fully functional chain stitch machine. Included ar e the wide and narrow hemmers. Seam guide, 23 extra needles(one more in the machine) and a wrench tool. There is also 6 pages of hand typed instructions for using the machine. The owner had it serviced. Their is a service tag hanging from the crank handle. Also another paper one dated 1967 from a place in London. The owner moved to the states in 1974. This machined has been stored ever since ... morein her garage. The only number I can read on the machine is under the foot plate. 002085. Most of the writing on the foot plate is worn off. I can read a few words. Paris. May, July, chain, Will. And then some partials. Lndon for London and the N for New York plus a few others. The case is in rough condition but together. It is 14x12x9.5. The base on machine is 12.5x8x1 in good condition. Has 4 rubber pads and a thumb screw that holds the machine on. I cannot turn this by hand. The paint and gold embossing is in good condition. Rare Bausch and & Lomb Hand Crank Centrifuge
Late 1800's early 1900's Bausch and Lomb Hand crank centrifuge engine. It is missing the double yoke with receptacles It is a table mount(don't know if there were any other kind) model. The crank works smoothly and drives the spindle at a very high ratio. The housing was probably coated with a brownish finish originally but most of it has flaked off. The face plate has the notation"Bausch& Lomb Optical Co.Rochester NY, New York NY, Chicago. The faceplate appears to be made of nickel plated brass. The crank handle is wood. Measurements 13 inches in length x 10 inches in height A Brief History of the Historians of the early days of the can argue for hours over the simple matter of who invented what is. In many ways, one of the most important machines ever devised. The story really starts in 1755 in London when a German immigrant. Charles Weisenthal, took out a patent for a needle to be used for mechanical sewing. There was no mention of a machine to go with it, and another 34 years were to pass before Englishman Thomas Saint invented what is generally considered to be the first real sewing machine. In 1790 the cabinet maker patented a machine with which an awl made a hole in leather and then allowed a needle to pass through. Critics of Saint's claim to ... morefame point out that quite possibly Saint only patented an idea and that most likely the machine was never built. It is known that when an attempt was made in the 1880s to produce a machine from Saint's drawings it would not work without considerable modification. The story then moves to Germany where. I found this in a friend's basement the other day and thought it looked like it was in pretty good shape but when I got it home I found out that it did not work. I did not try to take it apart to fix it because I don't know anything about adding machines. I doesn't appear to have been physically abused so maybe it is just some simple adjustment that's needed however I do not have a clue. 1922 Singer 28K Hand Crank Sewing Machine with Mahogany Coffin Case
Up for auction is an antique Singer hand crank sewing machine. Model 28K. Serial number Y637955 dates the machine to 1922. Very good condition– all of the mechanisms appear to be working and the crank turns smoothly. The finish is in good condition with only minor scuffs and scratches and some wear to the decals. The case is a coffin style appears to be mahogany and is in very good condition. The only issue with the case is a repair to the accessory compartment- there is a crack in one of the“rails” that holds the lid on and a small chip to the corner of the top. The latches are intact and sturdy. I did have to replace the front slide plate( it was missing when I got the machine) I took one f rom another Singer machine I have- it is not an exact match( see photo) and is a little hard to slide. This is a German made circa 1900 machine, could be by Hengstenberg + Co or Frister + Rossman or maybe another, it is mkd under thread winder on plate serial#646660. In very good working condition with no frozen, stripped, cracked or chipped parts, has nearly all of it's original japanning + gold colored decoration on metal, has shuttle with bobbin inside + cranks smoothly, I have not sewed with it but everything seems to be fine, there are some extra needles + parts in sliding storage compartment in base. Nickel plated parts are very good with a few spots of tarnish. Also in base there is a ... moreruled + banded inlay strip 15"L, marked in 1/4" increments. Machine is complete with wooden top part of case + skeleton locking key, that is in working condition, the case has some banded inlay on top + is in good sturdy condition + has been reglued with some corner molding strips missing. Up for bids is a lot of(4) old original shelves for the wooden wall telephones from the 1940's or before. 2 measure 7 by 8 1/2. One is 5 3/4 by 8 3/4. The last one is 6 by 7 1/2. All are original and in very good condition. One of the 7 by 8 1/2 has a splinter of wood missing from the bottom. Not noticable.

It turns freely however it will need some cleaning and restoration before being put back to use. It measures roughly 6 ½ inches by 6 ½ inches and would extend out 4 inches.
