This well desired GREEN PENN Peerless No. 9 works well and ready to fish if so desired. Its cranks nicely with good click and has a solid anti-reverse. Smooth even working levelwind, a reliable nice working snappy clutch. Freespool is a tad slow but should speed up with some line and does work well. The drag works well and also has a loud well working clicker and nice working clicker switch. The outer chrome rings are not cracked. I bought this reel off of E-bay about two years ago. I removed the old fishing cord that it was spooled with. My plan was to use this reel for high speed wahoo trolling on a short bent butt rod. After doing more research on the wahoo high speed trolling I decided to go with a Penn 80 International reel for an even stronger drag system which is needed for high speed trolling. Paypal only. Penn 9 Level Wind bait casting reel. 2 each, used This is the smallest. I think of the Penn level wind reels. Production goes back to 1958. Don’t know how to date these, but while marked the same, they are slightly different in size, and have different handles. These look to have the black plastic spool, which would make them the earliest models. Both seat marked 30N-9, Made in USA. Rated for 275 yards of 15 pound test, 2 ball bearings, 3.4:1 gear ratio, and 13 ounces. If you want more sell, look‘em up on the internet. Penn just about wrote the book on these heavy duty bait casters. As for the guts of the Level Wind series of reels. The all have a precision machined stainless steel pinion and high strength bronze alloy main gear to provide some serious cranking power. Both seem to function OK. Here's a Great Reel for those who fish for Big Catfish or Coastal Sharks! This is an Original Penn Peerless No.9 Casting Reel. It features a Multi-Star Drag. Early White Torpedo Knob Counter-Balanced Handle, Loud Clicker and sealed Oil Ports for quick and easy lubrication. It holds 275 yds. of 15 lb. test mono. has a 3:41 Gear Ratio and weights 13 ounces. Everything works great and the reel has been stored properly with the drag backed off. There's no rust. Only a little light pitting. The only issue with the reel is it has a number etched on the left side plate and bottom of the reel seat. This is a great reel and this model was discontinued in 2006. Vintage Penn Senator 9/0 fishing reel, Big game,conventional reel, USA made
This is a used vintage Penn Reels Senator 9/0 fishing reel that is in good condition for its age. Please see pictures. The last picture is of the yellow handle torpedo knob showing a brown crack in it. This same picture also shows some scars on the handle(chrome part) where this yellow torpedo knob attaches. The outer chrome rings are not cracked. I bought this reel off of E-bay about two years ago. I removed the old fishing cord that it was spooled with. My plan was to use this reel for high speed wahoo trolling on a short bent butt rod. After doing more research on the wahoo high speed trolling I decided to go with a Penn 80 International reel for an even stronger drag system which is needed for high speed trolling. Paypal only. Vintage Penn 9/0 Big game reel. Model 115H. Check out the handle. It is an old counter balanced model, with a nice red knob. The reel come from an estate sale and was on a old split bamboo ocean rod. I believe it is very old based on the other fishing items at the sale. Everything works, pinion, drag, etc. are fine. Shows its age with the rust and corrosion on it. Here is a PENN SENATOR 9/0 Rod and reel combo. Works great, looks great! The rod and reel assembled measures 66" long. The reel is marked as shown, the rod is also a Penn and marked as such, see pictures. I checked this reel, it is smooth, quiet and everything functions correctly. The rod is a little dirty but eyes are good and windings are tight and original. Even the decals are still on the rod, this combo has not been used much. I think this may be a Tuna rod and reel but would work for most saltwater fishing. See photos for any other details and email any questions. White spots are camera flash. Note, the rod will be mailed in a thick cardboard tube and the reel in a separate box so I am somewhat guessing at shipping cost. Vintage PENN No 9 Level Wind Fishing Reel USA
For your consideration are a pair of"PENN" No. 9 Level Wind Reels. These are great reels for inshore saltwater fishing or for large fresh water species. The reel(see pict#4& 5) with the green mono is in excellent condition both mechanically& cosmetically- the other reel(see pict#6& 7) is being offered as a solid back-up reel or for parts for the other reel. It works ok& may just need a good cleaning to make it as smooth as the other reel- I am no reel expert and did not attempt to take the reels apart for a cleaning. Service& adjustment. The second reel does have a bit of chrome plating missing& the side plates show a bit of wear. These are level wind bait-casting reels. Penn constructs their reels like tanks- most of them go on forever with a bit of care. They feature star drags for fighting large fish- ... morethey have Maganese Bronze Main Gears& light weight composite side plates.
