Carl Sorensen Bronze Trumpet Vase with Verigris Patina Finish Arts & Crafts Era
This is a bronze Trumpet Vase made in the Arts and Crafts era by Carl Sorensen. It has the signature applied verdigris patina that Carl Sorensen was noted for. It is almost 5.5" tall. The top is 5" in diameter and the bottom is almost 2.5" in diameter. It is signed in script on the bottom by the artist and it has the hallmark"S" along with the work"bronze" as well. Some of the green patina has worn off of the outside rim of the bottom which is to be expected in a piece of this age. But other than that it is in excellent vintage condition.

These two charmers were created by Lewis Sorensen who was a master doll artist who created many beautiful wax dolls until his death in 1986. He even created dolls for Ripley's. He is most famous for his beautiful Santa and Christmas dolls. These are just as nice. They are a big 23" tall. His clothes are velveteen and cotton. Hers are cotton. They both wear nice wooden shoes and the best things about them is their winsome expressions. They also have nice wooded stands and are ready to display. I don't see any flaws. There are two holes on back which served a purpose when this was complete. The deck shows some pitting to nickel finish, some loss of sheen/discoloration. The Gauge face is in very good condition, marked CM Sorensen Co Inc, New York, NY. Vacuum reading goes up to 30. Stands approx 5 1/2" to tallest spot. This is a very cool circa 1950 Hawaiian divided bowl singed on the bottom by Sorensen. the bowl is carved nicely with a texture to into the bottom and sides and it has great fire in the grain. There is minor normal wear and the bowl has been rubbed out with some olive oil. the bowl is 18" long. 10" wide and 1 1/2" tall.

VINTAGE- LIDDED& SIGNED PATINATED BRONZE BOWL CARL SORENSEN STYLE This is so much like those Carl Sorensen designs. But I cannot find a Sorensen name on this piece! The only marking I can decipher is something in capital letters, ending in an S P A L. The finial for the lid is a bronze rooster and along the outer edges of the base are a design of grapes and leaves. This piece measures 5 and 1/2 inches high and is 4 and 1/2 inches across in diameter. Found at auction: a rare lot of LEWIS SORENSEN dolls that have been stored away at the New Bern(North Carolina) Historical Society Museum for years. I have FIVE"Portrait Dolls" likely made in the 1950's. And I will be offering each separately. Here is a 14" PORTRAIT DOLL with a cloth tag: This is a"Portrait Doll" an original creation by Lewis Sorensen. These portrait dolls are composition-based with wax overlay and have custom clothing sewn to the doll. Lewis Sorensen(1910-1987) was a renowned NAIDA artist. A costume designer and a sculptor who made dolls as well as life-sized sculptures for many museums. He specialized in wax. After WWII, Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt commissioned Sorensen to create a set of presidential dolls.now of the few that exist, many are held in museums. Sorensen is famous for his Presidential ... moredolls, his Christmas dolls, and his Portrait dolls- all created individually by hand: Mr. Sorensen developed his own method of making the dolls. First sculpting the features in clay. This is covered in order to make a mold. In the mold is cast papier mache which is covered in a thin coating of wax. His own formula incorporated the flesh tones and the color right into the wax. The bodies are made of cloth and the head, arms, lower legs and feet are made of wax. Using his dressmaking talent, Mr. Sorensen sewed each costume for the dolls right onto the body. Offered here is a handsome woman in 18th early 19th century costume. She has an educated and patrician look about her: it is possible she represents a president's wife. Possibly Abigail Adams? The doll is totally intact in and quite wonderful condition for age, could use a little careful cleaning and she has an unfortunate chip from her nose. She is dressed in an elaborate gown and several layers of undergarments. I see no tears to the fabric, but there is a bit of fading, yellowing, and brown spotting here and there. Small gold spoon; a little under 4-1/2 inches long. Nicely rounded bowl with handle starting out thin. Smooth, and round. The main section of the handle is a tapering hexagon shape, with a squiggle pattern on 3 of the 6 faces, and smooth on the other 3 faces. The handle is ended uniquely, with a pointy cone finial. The inside of the bowl is marked"DENMARK 65" The back of the bowl has 2 oval stamps: W&SS" and"830S" These are the markings of W&S Sorensen silversmith company. The"65" presumably, would be for the year 1965? The"830S" means it is sterling silver. The color is gold, so I think it is plated with yellow gold. There is light wear all over. Sorensen Monkeypod Mid Century Modern Wood Eames Era Chip and Dip Plate Hawaii
Large mid-century modern chip and dip platter carved from one beautiful piece of mokeypod wood. The platter is signed on the back. Engraved in the wood: Sorensen, Hawaii, Monkeypod. It measures 14 inches in diameter; the dip portion measures 5 inches in diameter. Condition is great except for some 10 or so scuffs to the side of the dip"bowl" and then a few random ones around the platter. When covered with chips, these will not show. The platter has some scratches, but its overall condition is just lovely. A great addition to your mid-century modern table. I ship within 2 days of receipt of cleared Paypal payment.
