PE-237 Hard to find power supply unit for the BC-1306 and AN/GRC-9 military radio system. Date under cover reads June 2 1952. While the components look excellent for their age. It has not been tested and this is sold as a restoration project. It is missing the internal field spare parts that are stored inside the box, that seems common for these antiques. It is a vibrator type power supply for vehicular use that converts 6, 12, or 24 volts dc input from a vehicular storage battery into the necessary operating voltages for the receiver-transmitter. One advantage of this unit over generators and dynamotors is that is has fewer moving part to break down and vibrators are easier to repair. This unit is very rugged. It consists of two major circuits; the heavy duty send and the low power standby. Collected this unit in my youth for ham radio. I never used it and I don’t think I will ever find the time to restore it. Large Vintage 8233F Ham Radio Transformer Power Supply
Your going to have to rely on the photos for a description.I tested resistance and I believe all the circuits are good. But I have to admit this one is a little confusing. I have been unable to find anything matching the numbers printed on it, no color code/schematic, maybe it's a custom order, no maker on it. Now add 16 wires into my 6 wire mind, and I 2 stepped right, 1 stepped up, 4 stepped down, shook my hoochie coo chi and fell flat on my face. LoL! So what I'm getting at is, I don't know the what the voltage of each leg, hopefully you can figure it out, it's gotta be a little higher end having nickel wire, I would think anyway. This is a pretty big transformer, it weighs 15 lbs. If someone solves the mystery, please share, I would appreciate the help. Thank you for looking. Happy New Year.
