The early and very rare Atwater Kent Power Supply Type Y for the equally scarce Model 36 radio. The circa 1927 model 36 was Atwater Kents first AC powered radio using the"new" AC tubes. 226. 227, 280 and 71A. Designed and built in a rush to compete with RCA's very successful model Radiola 18. the model 36 used many parts from earlier battery sets. just as the type Y supply shared a case and components with the earlier AK battery Eliminator[type RB] The model 36 was plagued with problems and soon replaced by the one piece model 37. This example of the type Y supply is complete and in reasonably good condition. It is however missing the AK data plate that belongs on top[see picture 3 for the empty ... morespace] It has been repainted and it appears that a new cloth covered line cord may have been added. Pictures 5& 6 show the connecting plugs from the model 36 installed on the power supply. The very nice. Original finish model 36[shown in the last picture] is NOT INCLUDED but is available in another of my auctions this week. Interior of the supply is dusty but appears complete. the tube shown is a type 280 display dud and is included with the supply. The connection panel retains all of the original binding post caps. The pressed steel exterior case is in VG condition[apart from the repaint] w/no dents or damage. It is supposed to be working but the condition of the plug[cracked] and general old age precludes my just plugging it in. So it is sold as untested. I present here two beautiful WORKING meters removed from a high voltage laboratory power supply from times past. The Volt meter has scales from 0-1.0. 0-10, 0-20 and 0-50 volts dc. The amp meter has scales from-3, 0, +10, 15, 0, +50, 30, 0, +100, 150, 0, +500 Amps DC. The amp meter zero's up from the bottom of the scale at the zero point. Both meters can be scaled with resistor voltage dividers to any one of these or any other desirable measurement scale as long as the actual movement does not exceed the 1.0 ma. full scale rating of the meters as is common to most meters of this vintage. I am offering them together because they both came from the same power supply and should maybe be used together for a nice presentation on the front of a piece of equipment.
