100 amp IMPROVED SSR DC Dump load MODIFIED
A video of the circuit and the SSR can be found at: This is an SSR just like the FOTEK 100 Amp SSR's you can find here on eBay. Unfortunately. The problem with these is that they are built with poor quality, and heat up rapidly when under even light loads. I have MODIFIED these SSR's for PERFORMANCE. The cheap internal parts have been removed. And replaced with HIGH QUALITY parts. This is all in an attempt to reduce heat dissipation. Let me say. That the amount of heat that is put off now, as compared to before, is remarkably better. Please note that the looks of the SSR are not the best. This is because I have to pry apart the SSR in order to make it better. These SSR's are built for PERFORMANCE and NOT COSMETICS. Be aware. That I am not claiming that you do not need a heat sink. A heat sink is still necessary if you intend to ... moremake this SSR actually do work. What I am claiming. Is that you can significantly decrease the size of the heat sink that is needed. The knobs are not cracked. The soft key buttons are intact and clean. One side is missing its carrying handle. The side portions of the faceplate is missing screw cover panel(both sides) A little dust and some sticker residue are the only other imperfections. The 6643A has been load tested in our warehouse. The item is a Hewlett Packard 6050A DC Electronic Load Mainframe containing a 60501B Load Module( 60 volts. 30 amps) This unit is in reasonably good cosmetic condition and works well. Here is what each picture shows: hp6050+60501_01.jpg- Power on. Module 1 is in constant current mode, nothing is connected. 02- Press the"Ident" button to find that module 1 has a 60 volt. 30 amp capacity(60501B) 03- The back corner showing the 60501B module in slot 1. 04- The unit is upside down. 05- Attach a 5 volt industrial strength power supply monitored by a DVM confirming variation at the supply is less than 0.0001 volt. No load to 25 amps. 06- Draw 10 amps through the load. Lose about 0.50 volts in the my cheap wiring between the power supply and the load. 07- Draw 25 amps through the load. Lose about 1.20 volts warming up the connecting wire. ... more08- Change mode to constant voltage and set to 4.75 volts_09- It takes about 5.60 amps to lose the quarter of a volt(5.00 at the supply- 4.75 at the load) in the wiring. The voltage and current measurements were within a count or two of my Fluke and HP 6 digit DVMs. I used the HPIB interface with my computer controlled battery charge- discharge program. The load works properly on all of these tests. A CD is included that contains the Operating.
