This auction is for a beautiful Pickle Jar that was manufactured using the first automatic bottle machine which was used from 1890 until about 1909. This type machine continued to be used mainly for milk bottles until the 1920's. It appears to be a wax sealer closure and there is a wonderful chrysanthemum flower embossed. It is heavily embossing is extremely detailed for a food bottle. I am told that it is a chrysanthemum.If you know different,please let me know. I believe this piece is rather scarce as it is the only one of this shape that I have seen in my twenty years of being in the hobby. It does resemble goofus glass jars but is much more detailed.Of a heavier glass and of a superior form. I dug this in Saco Maine in July of 2007.During an amazing summer visit.
