Hand-made, hand-built and rugged like the music that filled the air when they were first made, then quite possibly, you've found the Holy Grail, with this outstanding and uncompromising SIGNED. VINTAGE MODERNIST HAND-BUILT VASE WITH MATTE BLACK SURFACE AND SEPIA BROWN TONED BAS-RELIEF BANDS OF WAVES, WITH STAMPED FISH. The vessel measures 9 3/4" in overall height and is 7 1/2" in width and is 3 1/8" in width at the opening with a base of 3 7/8" in width. The vase is stamped with the chop mark"CT" and is otherwise not signed under the affixed black leather round patch found on the base. The patch was carefully removed to see if there was possibly an additional marking or signature but there were none and the patch was re-affixed to the base. As it was originally found. ... moreThe stamp"CT" is located on the underside of the descending turn as the vase approaches the edge of the base plate. The hand-built vessel has the hallmarks of the plastic construction of the body, with roping and the stacking of the coils, to built the vessel upwards. This is finished in a non-reflective matte black glaze. Into the surface of the vessel's bulbous body is stamped three stylized fish, that swim between banded waves that encircle the vase base in curving, vacillating movement, complimenting the fish. This is created with clay coil affixed to the vessel's surface. The fish and the ribbons of affixed coils are treated with a sepia brown glaze that is slightly more reflective than the matte black finish of the body. The vase quickly turns upward at the shoulders of the bulbous base and ascends like a rough, coarse Brutalist tube, until it finishes with a straight cut-off at the vessel opening. The form and surface decoration go hand-in-hand and both create visual excitement and possess intrinsic beauty. Banding tool and crimpper tool good cond. strapping shipping packaging
Up for sale we have a banding ratchet tool and the crimpping pliers for using on steel packing bands. The tools look to be in good shape and appear to my untrained eye to work well. The pliers are missing one of the black balls on the handles, I wouldn't think that would affect them much however. There is a small block of wood mounted to the back bottom edge of the ratchet tool, I assume to raise it off the floor or to put over the edge of some thing to make it pull a tighter strap. The throat on the ratchet is 3/4" wide. I have not tested these tools, but as I stated above they do look fully functional. They are not marked as far as I can see. This is a collection of Gorham china in the Marbury Black pattern; never before used(they still have price stickers on them) There are nine dinner plates that have a 10.5” diameter, and seven bread or dessert plates with a 6.5” diameter. These are part of an estate. Probably purchased as open stock. The dinner plates have a price sticker of $9.99 on the back of each, and the bread plates have a price sticker of $4.49 on each. Measures 7 mm in diameter by 21 mm long approximately weighs in at 3 grams This is a really nice eight sided hand formed and polished stone bead. It is pinky white and has natural pink bands across the stone bead almost forming an eye. It is hand board through for threading onto a necklace or other item, lots of wear around the string hole. This type of stone bead was popularly and sort after in the ancient world. It looks similar to be type 263 d.E, 264 b,c,d,e, Lois Sherr Dubin Chart putting it at between c 2500 BC to 2200 B.C. in style approx but could be later. You are bidding on a nicely carved wood cane/ walking stick with a folk art pattern. Possibly from Sumatra or the Philippines. The gentleman who owned it was a"roughneck" working on oil drilling projects throughout the South Pacific and in South America, and it is most likely from the 1950's or 1960's. Circles and hash marks, beautiful brass band below the handle. It measures 35.5" tall, and could use a new rubber cap on the base. Solid wood, so it can be shorted by cutting from the tip.
