But all the bushings where worn out and the shear teeth were broke. I spent $2500.00 hundred dollars on new bushings and two sets of shear teeth with shims and new Parker hydraulic lines and painted it. I mounted it on a telehandler so I could reach farther up in the air for delimbing but can be mounted on a skid steer. I have not found any tree withing the size range that it will not cut. Skid Steer Attachments Tree Shear - Erskine, Used
This is a one-owner. Used about 6 hours, Erskine Tree Shear. Works fine. Bought it brand new to work on hiking trails with downed trees on fed land, but the feds decided to bulldoze the trail system for fire abatement right after I got it. Can't see where the 22 year old trail is anymore so no need for this tree shear. Used it for some land clearing at our resort and it worked great. Just don't have that much land clearing now as this shear is capable of doing so it sits. Notice the blade edge. It is still sharp with only one little nick in it. Purchased in spring of 2010 and it appears that they are made exactly the same way today. I tested it out again and it cuts absolutely fine. Trees always drop to the right. Very powerful and reasonably fast if you crank up your engine idle a bit. I put one ding in a hose that peeled a bit of ... morethe rubber off the hose about the size of your thumb(see picture) In that same event, the other hose outside cloth was ripped a little but the hose is fine. I don't anticipate this needing a new hose for quite some time. Paid about $4300 for it at the time plus shipping. Comes with flat-faced couplers and it will have oil in it as well. It's off of the Bobcat you see in the picture- also a one-owner(me) since I bought it new. Nothing here was ever rented. All was purchased brand new and owned/operated by me. I've used this to clear many acres of Doug fir and it's never found a tree it couldn't clip. The previous owner was using it to cut down telephone poles. So there are some dents in the blades due to his forgetting about grounding spikes once in a while. But it doesn't seem to effect the ability to cut stuff, so I never bothered putting the new blades on it but you get them with the purchase! They're about $1000, so that's a pretty good value.
