This neat. Scarce, vintage, painted flat nail eyed, spotted, 2 1/2 inches in wooden body length"Crippled Mouse Fishing Lure" with a rare marketing box label was made by Elman"Bud" Stewart(1912-1998) of Flint Michigan. AKA Michigan's Legendary Lure Maker of Flint, Michigan. Bud was so revered as a fishing lure and fish decoy maker, and also as a folk artisan, that a book about his life and creations was written about him while he was still living. Bud's fishing lures and fish decoys always had the action and/or paint simulating a crippled, wounded, or dying fish attractor. The circa is early 1940's. The condition of this neat fish getter is with moderate use wear, with just some fine age cracking in it's paint finish, and also a tackle box rub on it's rear left hand spotted paint area. Bud Stewart is known. for his Folk Art Lures. The Smithsonian Has Labeled him The Preeminent Folk Artist, Michigan State University has bestowed upon him the Michigan Heritage Award. He is also in the( Fishing Hall Of Hall) Lures are in good condition, but have been used some and have some very minor marks. As you can see, they are all different. Quite a nice group of lures. These are very collectible. Mr Stewart retired in 1981.

The lure has a perch finish with a yellow underside accented with gold glitter. The lure is in good condition minor discoloration to the front metal, and some glitter loss. I am offering for auction an old unknown fishing lure. This is a really neat old lure. It has a paint job that is unique. But I can't determine whether it's from the manufacturer or not. It's an pearlized Green with Red Spots with Black rings around them. The paint has a Bud Stewart quality to it. It is a beautiful wooden lure. Even the diving lip is carved into the lure. It is in in GR condition. It has a pointer on the right side and a little paint flaked in certain spots. It is exactly 2" in length. The cup on the forward treble hook is coming out of the body a little. I didn't want to try to horse it back in. The white line down the side is a flash reflection. Sorry.
