This is a collection of over 2,000 lures! SPECIAL NOTE: There is NO lid for this particular metal or tin box. LURE MARKINGS: The top of the lure ... morereads: Shimmy No. 5. The spinner is marked: Al Foss Pat. Apr. 30'18 May 14'18. The box has one end marked: No. 5 Shimmy Wiggler. We did not attempt to open the catalog to find a date. The exact age is unknown but known to be a vintage antique lure. LURE CONDITION: We inspect every lure with a 10x jewelers glass! This lure measures aprox. 5" long total includes spinner and bucktail. The Shimmy No. 5 has aged in box. The inside box is rusty hence the rusty color tint on the bucktail. The pork rind lure has light soiling with a mist of tarnish. The bucktail is fully attached and secure. Note this has the 1918 version spinner blade. THE BOX: there is NO lid for the box. This is the correct box for the lure. The box has the scattered rubbing and rusty soiling throughout. The box bottom is rock solid as the are no holes or weak spots. AL FOSS CATALOG: The catalog has been carefully pinned to a piece of cardboard for the photo. This one is very very fragile and was not even opened due to the fragile condition. I found this Al. Foss Pork Rind Minnow tin while going through some of Dad's collectables. As you can see. It has been around but is still in great"used" condition. If you look closely, you can see"5 Shimmy Wiggler" stamped on the lid. I remember fishing with Dad and this was one of his favorite baits. Seems like he ALWAYS caught a monster Bass every time he used these things. He made me get the slimy pork rind out of a little bottle of some stinky brine he kept in his tackle box then attached it just so to the lure. It was YEARS before he let me use these bates and they always caught fish! The lure is long gone but the tin he kept it in and the memories of"fishin with Dad" live on.
