1920's Arts and Crafts Era Oak Tree Sculpture Lamp signed by Meyer
On a very rare occasion we come across something worth sharing. A piece so exciting that seeing it makes you feel like a child at Christmas. You find yourself just wanting to shout out to the world, hey, come look! This would be one of those times. This is an early Arts& Crafts Era End Table Lamp. It is fairly large. Almost 2 feet in height. Designed to look like an oak tree, the base is painted a muted green with leaves, and wood accents with a trunk that sports four individual light sockets. Balancing on top of the trunk is a large oval shade with alternating red and green glass stones shaped to resemble large acorns. The foliage makes up the shade and in the dark, the presence is stunning. At the base. The lamp is signed Meyer, but we have been unable at this time to find out who the sculptor is. We are certain, however, based on the ... moremanufacture of the original sockets, that it was American Made, likely Chicago area, after 1915. We have only seen one of these before- and it sold at a commanding price a long time ago. If you have a nice. Older craftsman house- this is the item for you. Update: When one of our staff took the lamp back into the stairwell to move it for shipping. He turned it on in the darkness and the light pattern it emitted was stunning. None of the music has been trimmed. The images are either taken by a digital camera or a scanner. The scanner images might not show all of the edges because of the size limitation of the scanner. But the sheet music is fully intact with no trimmed edges. I have an unbelievably large collection of sheet music to sell- thousands and thousands. Exceptional Antique Gravy Sauce Boat“The Southern” Meyer China Restaurant Ware Woman Serving Chicken This fabulous gravy or sauce boat. Made for The Southern, portrays a woman in a polka-dot kerchief and an apron with a polka-dot bow in back carrying a platter with a whole, steaming chicken(or turkey) The style of this image is in contrast to the ornate floral border, which resembles chicory. It is bottom-marked Mayer China Beaver Falls, PA. Medford Patented, 162. Note that my photos show a yellowish tint from the light; the boat is WHITE. The Southern may refer to the grand Southern Hotel near New Orleans, which opened in 1907. The 60-room Mission-Style featured such amenities as electricity, hot water, and fine china. In 1912, it was purchased by a physician who reopened it as a sanitarium/ resort for people with respiratory problems. It ... morewas closed in the 1960s and one tower was removed to make room for a drug store. The city government used the building for 20 years, from 1983 to 2003 when it was sold at auction. Local developers purchased the hotel in 2011 and are restoring it.
