The Protractor is No. 3984 and based on the model number, package with no UPC code, etc. dates to at least the early 1980's- probably earlier. Both used tools are in good to very good condition and are fully functional. The torpedo level has just a few light marks on the aluminum edging but is in very good condition. There are two small red"dots" on the center vial that appear to be inside the vial but do not affect the bubble. The protractor appears to be lightly used but apparently has been stored in the original paperboard and blister package that has protected the tool from scratches and other handling wear. Most of the items I sell are from estate sales. Auctions, flea markets, etc. I clean them as necessary to properly evaluate the condition and allow you to judge the actual item rather than a previous owner’s dirt. This auction is for a vintage Union Instrument Co. precision protractor. It is marked on the front"U.S. and one source suggests it might was made for the Army Corps of Engineers. Probably intended for use by draftsmen. It could readily be used for checking angles in the machine shop. In any case it is still an instrument that you would be pleased to own. This tool is in really nice condition. With no dings or staining. It appears to be made of stainless steel, although it has a softer hue like German silver. On the front it is Imprinted: U.S. 8, Union Instr. Corp Plainfield, N.J. There is a small glass or clear plastic eye in the center with cross hairs. The center mechanism rotates through 360 degrees. The outer scales go from 190 to 350 degrees in both directions and the vernier scale goes from 30 to 0 to 30 degrees. This auction is for 2 Curv-O-Mark products from Contour Marker Products. PLEASE NOTE THAT EACH IS MISSING A COMPONENT. They appear to be in very good mechanical condition. There's no looseness in the joints. There are no bends. Cracks, repairs, or signs of abuse. They do have some dust and overall dullness from sitting about for a long time. These were obtained at a local auction. I know generally what they're used for. But can't answer any questions about their specifics. It's my understanding that these products are now manufactured by Jackson/ Kimberly-Clark. Neither is marked with a model number. The larger is marked"Curv-O-Mark" and has some patent numbers. The smaller has no markings but is clearly a Contour Marker item. The larger is about 28" fully extended(without the pencil) It folds to about 9 3/4" ... morelong. From viewing the current Jackson offerings. This appears to be a#1 Contour Marker(PN 14771) The current kit includes a section of angle that does NOT come with my offering. The smaller is about 17 5/8" in overall length fully opened. It folds to about 12" long. From viewing the current Jackson offerings. This appears to be a#9 Contour Fitting Welder Protractor(PN 14778) Please note that this is MISSING the base for holding the protractor. I don't have any instructions or original packaging. This is a pretty good condition Fowler stainless steel universal dial protractor. It measures in intervals of 5 minutes on the dial and has a cutout window for degrees. It comes with 6" 12" blades which are both beveled 60 degrees on one end and 45 on the other. Also has the acute angle attachment and hard shell plastic case. The set is clean and ready to go with the only real noticeable flaw being a scratch on the lens(zoom in on pic# 7 to see it) There are no engravings or other personal markings on the set. It rotates smoothly and locks nice& tight. The blades can be a little tricky to get in. But all 3 do go(6, 12, acute attachment) I really don't think this was used much at all.
