I filled this listing with pictures of contents to give you an idea of what is included in the catalog. This original(not reproduction) catalog contains 96 pages and measures 10 5/8" by 7 5/8" Condition is considered to be Fair +(see my condition guide below) for this 59 year old. Pre-owned, used tool catalog. It is not possible to say everything about an item like this, so please view photos as they are the best description. Softcover catalog has 3 holes punched ... morein spine, so it looks like former owner had in a binder for reference. Cover has soiling and marks all over, including rub and scuff. In 1833 David Sharpe and his son Joseph and J.R. Brown started the famous machine company. In 1853. Lucian Sharpe joined to make it the Brown& Sharpe Mfg. Co. They made cotton machinery and clocks etc. and this. the first practical micrometer" They both went to the Paris Exposition i 1867 and were inspired to make this micrometer and now make several hundred different styles and sizes. This precision 4" caliper is stainless steel and in good condition. As you can see in my many pictures. The name, Brown& Sharpe, Providence, R.I. is stamped into the tool. This tool measures 4" long. Mitutoyo 8 inch digital caliper with a 6" Brown and Sharpe Dial Caliper
You are looking at a 8 inch Mitutoyo Digital Caliper with a Brown and Sharpe 6 inch Dial Caliper. The Mitutoyo works great but has a spot on the LCD from a hot metal chip. You can see from the pics that it doesn't look too bad. It doesn't bother me any as I use it. But I am disclosing this too describe accurately as possible. The brown and sharpe needs some work. The dial functions but has a rough feel as the needle rotates. I haven't gotten around to repairing but figured I'd add these to the mitutoyo's. I have no cases for these. Posted with

The box was in tattered shape and missing wood planks, not to mention an overwhelming musty smell trapped in its inside contours. We have: replaced the inside lining with brand new. Black crushed velvet fabric; refitted and replaced the wood fittings that secure the caliper in place· sanded and stained the outer casing and replaced the missing wood pieces· cleaned and thoroughly polished the Vernier Caliper itself. This is a very good quality caliper with Outside readings on one side of the caliper. And a scale for inside readings on the other side. It features both a fixed and sliding jaw; vernier and vernier scale; clamping screws and clamping block; a fine adjustment wheel; a main scale and guide ruler. It has.001 inch increments. And the scales are in great shape. The“inside” and“outside” uses are appropriately marked on either side of the apparatus. Now this IS a used caliper. Owned by a Mr. D.L. Amato, which is stamped on the piece in two locations. It does have 2 pit marks on the inside(side) of the fixed jaw at its most extreme top(see photos) but not in the scale and not on any precision surface that would affect performance. The Brown and Sharp Mfg. Co. Trademark label is stamped on the end of the guide ruler. As well as, on the top of the box casing, although the latter shows some fading of the label(much expected for its age) The case is 16.5" long overall. The dial caliper works, but most likely requires a professional cleaning, it slides a bit rough. That tool is clean, free of any personal markings. The dial indicator works OK, there are some cosmetic issues and a permanently installed post makes it less desirable.
