Embossed Transfer Printed with"Macaroni" Transfer Scene, England, c. 1790-1810. Beautiful and rare 18th century Pratt Ware is becoming so very difficult to find today. Especially in this kind of condition. This also is transfer printed in two early and very popular transfer scenes. The pattern name here is"Macaroni" One side has a gentleman with an exaggerated wig with his servant. On the opposite side the scene has a caricatured lady ... moreand her servant. This is a wonderful example of an early Pratt Ware tea canister or caddy. It has an embossed molded pattern that is handpainted with burnt orange. Brown and green. There is a rim design with cobalt blue and orange. An example of this canister is pictured and described in, PRATT WARE English and Scottish relief decorated and underglaze coloured earthenware 1780-1840" by John and Griselda Lewis, page 232. The text explains that one example of this canister was manufactured by Gordon's Bankfoot Pottery. The other example was manufactured by the Leed's Pottery. ANTIQUE CREAMWARE SPONGEWARE HAND PAINTED PLATE OCTAGONAL PRATT COLORS, A delightful octagonal shape creamware plate decorated in Pratt colors with blue sponge decoration on the surround and hand painted berry sprigs and dots in the well. Probably France or England ca 1800 This truly is a delightful. Happy little plate that is beautifully molded and light as a feather. The octagonal shape is hard to find and the rim has raised dots under the hand-painted blue sponging. The well of the plate is particularly attractive with small sprigs and dots in Pratt colors. The surround also has a line of black slip. The plate was press molded and has no foot ring. There are no makers marks. The plate is small, measuring 7 5/8" in diameter from point to point. It may have been a child's plate or a side plate. Condition For its age this plate is ... morein excellent condition: No chips. Cracks, hairlines, or crazing. The enamels have virtually no wear. There are a few scratches to the front and on the back due to use and age, but the glaze is still very shiny and smooth. Hand decorated with high temperature Pratt enamel colors: olive green. Cobalt blue, ochre and brown, polychrome hand painted decoration on creamy earthenware. Brown and ochre slip outline on neck and squiggles on the rim and arrows down the spout. Painted with a flower basket and sprigs of flowers. Finished with pearlware glaze. An outstanding example of late 18th or early 19th century folk art. The piece was made in Staffordshire or possibly Leeds or Yorkshire in England. Typically it is unmarked. A very early antique ceramic creamer intended for children to play with. Used to ... moreinstruct them in proper table manners or for a playtime tea party or simply to decorate a dollhouse table. The tiny creamer is in very good overall condition with a well executed invisible professional restoration to the spout. A minute fleabite on the edge of the spout and no other chips cracks or repairs. There is a problem with a Z travel alarm when making a tool change. It does not happen every time. But it happens at least once a day. The sign would have been on an outside wall and it is in remarkable condition considering its age. It is in original"as found" condition. And has not been re-paired or restored by us. Purchased these from a aeronautical museum closing on the north side of Chicago. The curator was a pilot from WWII and was an avid collector of all things related to aviation. As you can see these are nicely designed bookends with an historical significance assigned to them. Would make a great addition to any WWII collector or Aeronautical buff. At the end nuts there are serial numbers etched into the nut; hard to get a photograph but they are there.

800x600 Miniature Hand Decorated Pearlware Pratt Decorated Plate Acorn Border Staffordshire. England c. 1800 This is a striking miniature cup plate. Richly hand decorated in an earthy four color Pratt motif of olive green, ochre, brown and black, with a blue pearlware glaze. The tiny plate measures 3-1/4” in diameter with a flat bottom construction. It has a scalloped rim and is painted with the impeccable precision showing 7 stylized acorns alternating with nuts and a seaweed or fibre design. The plate was originally made as a child’s toy. Probably part of a large miniature dinner service dating to the late 18th or early 19th century. Typical of these very early toy dishes, the plate bears no makers mark and the exact maker is unknown, though it most likely was made in Staffordshire or a northern potting district of England. Charming child's plate with polychrome/transfer printed decoration. Featuring a pair of dancers"en pointe, the lady swirling around in her pink frock. Scalloped edge and moulded daisy/aster decoration along the rim. The plate is marked, faintly(difficult to photograph) and not all the letters of"DAWSON" are visible. 7-1/2 inches in diameter. The reverse of the plate has developed 4 short stress lines due to the curvature of the edge-these may have been there since the plate was made. Also for the record there is a tiny area of misprinted color at 9:00. No other flaws-the center design is completely intact, with no signs of use(knife marks, etc. Perfect as a display piece in the bedroom of a child who is taking ballet class. Handle and finial. A section of the shoulder near the handle and a section of the lid rim are also repaired. The handle and finial may be made up or rebuilt, I can't be totally sure, both are greyer. Suffice to say this is sold as found. But for many collectors it would still be a lovely piece to add to the shelf. The painting is done in classic Prattware high fire underglaze colors of brown. This incredible print is from an 1860 copy of"The Flowering Plants and Ferns of Great Britain" It measures 5 1/2" x 9" and is a nice heavy weight paper that is blank on the back. The drawings are by Anne Pratt. Rendered in block-colored plates and finished by hand. The colors are wonderful and it would be incredible framed either alone or in a group. The scan doesn't really show the beauty of this print! Illustrated on this print: Bell Flowers One or 2 light foxing spots and slight darkening of paper as would be expected in paper that is almost 151 years old. Scan may be darker than actual print.
