Vintage Baby Carriage TRAV-L-EEZ Mahr-Bufton Collapsible Gray 1930s - 40s
This auction is for a Vintage TRAV-L-EEZ baby carriage made by the Mahr-Bufton Co. Minneapolis, MN. It dates somewhere from the late 1920's to the 1940's with the trademark for this type of folding carriage 1929. The body is a gray Naugahyde type material and the frame is gray painted steel. It has an adjustable sun bonnet that folds down. The handle has a wood core covered by a bakelite-type material. The carriage body unhooks and swings easily on the frame or comes off the frame for use as a bassinet. The frame and carriage can also fold up for storage. The rubber wheels have hubcaps with the TRAV-L-EEZ logo. It has a brake. The inside has a deep storage compartment for diapers and there is a fabric panel that connects to the frame. I believe that is for the baby to sit up but not sure how it really works. No apparent fading, wheels and hubcaps intact, and no cracks in the handle. The frame and hubcaps just have normal scuffs or scratches from use. But there is some soiling on the inside of the carriage and the canvas bottom which could possibly be cleaned. Also, the cover to the diaper compartment needs replacing as it is ripped from the frame and the canvas material is discolored from glue that was used to try to repair it. There is no pad inside, but a pad would cover all of that up. I am very impressed with how well this carriage was made, how easily it converts to a bassinet or folds for storage, and how nicely it rolls. This vintage baby buggy was my buggy as a baby. It has one red wheel. Which my father replaced. One wheel does not have the rubber on it. I no longer have room for it. The buggy and frame separate and both collapse for ease of travel. It was also used as a cradle when unhooking the springs at the bottom of the buggy to rock it from side to side.
