Includes the small level bubble and a small strip of 3M white reflective tape. Fits Starrett and other vintage square body's with the 5/16" level holes. The end user needs to remove their old broken level and plaster from the body. Then the cavity must be lightly sanded with 400 grit paper and cleaned with acetone or alcohol. Cut the 3M tape to fit the bottom half round of the hole only. And apply. User must provide their own choice of adhesive to reinsert and bond the new level in the hole. Choices include; clear or white silicone, 5 minute epoxy, or smooth plaster mixes. Brown Sharpe Combination Square, Protractor, Starrett, Union Tool
This is exactly the way I found the tool. I cleaned it up a little bit so it operates smoothly. The brass holddown doesn't really stop the protractor from holding down tight or moving. I tried placing it in the other hole and I believe either the brass screw or the hole is stripped. I Think it needs the proper screws on each side. Level sight is good. Any questions happy to answer. For Sale is a vintage Brown& Sharpe machinist square with a 24" blade. The blade is a"CHROME BLADE" and the head is cast iron with a flat crinkle finish. The vial for the level is clear and the head still has the scriber. It looks like this may never have been used but was poorly stored and there are a few rust spots on the blade and tarnish on the head. May clean up with steel wool and WD-40 but even as is still looks better than most. The blade is graduated in 1/8" 1/16" 1/32" and 1/64" and all markings are clear and legible. These items are very old and only lightly used. The Patent# stamped on the thumbscrew. Is from 1923-1925, so I would place the body within a decade or so of that. The rule is a non-satin version by the L.S. Starrett Co, and since it has numbers on the 32nd and 64ths side, I would place it in the 40's or 50's?
