The clear lens over the dial is scratched. But still usable. There are also some engravings on the back. This caliper works great. Dial lock and slide lock work effortlessly. You are bidding on a Brown and Sharpe 12" Dial Caliper model 599-578-12. This caliper is made of hardened stainless steel in Japan. This caliper is in excellent condition. The biggest issue is the large engraving on the front(there is also one on the back) Ugly. But doesn't affect its use at all. There are a couple spots past the 12" mark where the finish has flaked a little(see photos) The clear plastic cover of the dial is in good shape. There are a few scuffs and scratches, but overall it's not too bad. That's the bad, now the good. This caliper works great. Dial lock, slide lock and roller all work effortlessly. Caliper returns to zero and is very accurate. Original case included, it latches well. Not much else to say. Some ugly engraving, but other than that, a pretty solid caliper. Up for bid is a vintage Brown& Sharpe No. 674 Rolling Mill Caliper Gage. In good plus condition. Minor tarnish, metal has discoloration stains, no owner's marks, moving parts work freely, nut locks tightly. From the 1941 catalog. Tongue graduated on one side to 32nds of an inch. This rolling mill caliper gage is made of tool steel. Drop forged. It is a strong tool designed to withstand the severe strains of use on a heavy class of work as in measuring sheet iron& steel in rolling mills. The jaws are hardened. This gage is is equally as useful in stock& store rooms but is designed especially to withstand the more severe requirements of heavy work.This tool is 5-13/16" long&7/32" thick.
