Exquisite antique Chinese hallmarked kingfisher feather and gilt hair pick or ornament. The piece is 1 1/8 inches square. With horizontal lines dotted with flowers. On either side a butterfly is perched, adding a lyrical quality. There is some feather loss, but the piece is largely intact. Total length is 2 1/4 inches. This is the last of my collection of kingfisher items. I travel frequently between SF and Amsterdam. Neth. and item will be sent from wherever I am when the auction closes. CHINESE. Antique Kingfisher Feather Coral or Amber.RARE SIGNED Necklace. I bought this necklace over 20 years ago at an estate sale and have never worn it. From the research that I've done. I believe it to be from the 1800's possibly early 1900's. There are later ones but this appears to be a very early piece and would make a great display in a museum! As in most genuine pieces of this kind. There is some loss of the delicate feathers. The signed flower base is silver with a rectangular Chinese mark with many details inside that may hold clues to it's origin.as I tried to show in the photos. The center of the large flower is a polished stone or coral.possibly amber. Chinese Antique Kingfisher feather jewelry pendant coral accent beads & 1 stone
From a fine San Diego estate.Chinese silver guilt(Can be both pendant or hair ornament) is in the shape of an open poppy flower or maybe a butterfly. It is covered with kingfisher bird feathers. Accented with about 38 red coral beads and has some sort of red colored stone as its centerpiece. Size is 1 1/2" at its widest point. It is missing 5% or less of its feathers and otherwise shows no additional damage. It is clearly marked on the back and appears to have 4 holes for hairpins on the back side and a place to hang it fron a chain near the top. Please examine with ebay zoom for exquisite detail. Hard to find. Beautiful old Chinese kingfisher feather bead necklace! c1920( Silver gilt beads of various sizes. 23mm, 14mm and 10mm. Ribbed. Upraised designs of flowers, hearts and marquise shapes. Beads are inlaid with blue kingfisher feathers and black colored feathers- makes for a nice contrast. Interesting link chain. Necklace is approx. 29"l. Slips over the head. In very good vintage condition. With obvious age appropriate wear to the feather inlay. I did not see any dents to the beads. I do think that the jump rings may have been replaced at some point as they seem shinier than the rest of the necklace- but it is as i found it when i purchased it from a local antique show last weekend. I have for auction a wonderful antique Kingfisher feather brooch and earring set. This matching set features what I believe to be a dragon with"tremblers" that move. The Kingfisher is a bird that was almost brought to extinction as it was prized for its feathers to be placed in jewelry and other objects. These pieces were made during the Qing Dynasty. The earrings have new wires attached at the top. The dragons have a pearl at the top of each of them. The earring without the ear wire measures: 1-1/2" x 1" wide. There are two spring type tremblers with orange beads at the ends. They move and don't stop moving when you move. Overall Excellent condition for its age. Vermeil type metal. Offered for sale is a very fine and large blue kingfisher feather hair ornament. These were worn in fancy hair arrangements by both Han Chinese and Manchu women. This one appears to be more of a Han Chinese style. It measures 7.5 inches so much larger than many that are seen for sale. I cannot see any flaws in the piece. Fine Chinese Kingfisher Feather Headdress Large Size Good condition Antique!
Offered here is a very nice and rare Kingfisher feather headpiece. Or partial headdress. This was made either for a bride to wear at her wedding or could also be from a Chinese opera piece. The motif of dragons and phoenix birds is commonly used for weddings. Also used are mirrors, and glass beads. The central flower at the top has a mirror in the center and the two leaf forms on either side of the piece also have central mirrors. The"tendrils" extending from the dragons mouths are tightly coiled wire with glass beads. These move and shake with each step the wearer would take. There is a row of fake paste pearls lining the bottom curve of the piece. I have included pictures of the back of the piece to show how it was made. There is an old piece of tape that was used to stabilize a cracked area. One small segment is missing on the ... morevery top, but it does not detract from the overall appearance. Please look at the photos carefully. Overall the feathers are in VERY good condition with almost no losses that I can see. The piece comes in a nice fitted box that will be included. This is the natural color of these feathers. These were worn by royalty and some persons of high standing relating to royalty. This type of bead was particularly made from the early 1700s through the early 1900s with some being made through the mid 1930s. This particular collection is from around the early to mid 1930's and has been in careful storage which is why the feathers are in excellent shape. Each bead is a work of art.
