Lot of 16 Assorted Vintage Fly Fishing Flies Hooks Baits
Today we have a Lot of 16 Assorted Vintage Fly Fishing Flies up for bid. These hooks and flies are used but still in pretty good shape. They were found in a tackle box that I acquired at an estate so I don't have any idea how old they are or what the different brands are. Each one measures about 1/2" in length including the hook. Zip-front. 18 pockets outside. 6 pockets inside plus large map pocket inside, as well as various hooks, straps etc to attach things to. In great gently pre-owned condition with one issue: the front snap closure has come apart- all the pieces are still there. But the"receiving" part has come in half and is stuck inside the"button snap" part. An easy fix if you have a snap repair kit, or a seamstress will usually charge a few bucks to do it. Otherwise no flaws- no spots or stains. No smells, no holes or tears, no paint loss to the many zipper pulls so I don't think this vest has ever seen action. All zippers. Great lot of antique fishing items including a wallet with nine flies or partial flies. Six triangular packets of gut snelled hooks, a lead sinker, an envelope postmarked 1901 with gut leaders inside and a loose snelled hook or two. Included among the snelled hook packets are a Sneck No.4 with four hooks, a Kinsey No.11 with six, a Harrison, Bartleet's No.4 with three, a Carlisle No.1 with six, a packet with"Bass" and New York on the front by W.B. S. Redditch with six and a Harrison's No.2 with 4. The flies in the wallet are in various states of repair with some missing feathers etc. the wallet itself is in very good condition and has two interior paper envelopes that are crinkled and soiled, one also missing half its flap. Vintage Fly Fishing Lot, Hooks, Feathers, Furs, Thread, Antique
A lot of vintage fly fishing items used to tie flys. Hooks. Feathers,furs, etc. The paint I am sure is no good but the bottles are cool and all the items look good. The spools of thread are cool and old also. The feathers and furs look good. One small part(a couple of items) smells funny so I put it in a separate bag. I don't think it it the items inside(duck feathers) just the small paper bag. But it is original container so I left it as it is. I don't know anything about fly fishing so I can't answer technical questions. The stuff was just in a container I bought. I am not a"super seller" I just hate to throw this out if someone wants it. The lot can be used to start a hobby. Or if you fly fish I am sure you can use this stuff, or if you just want the old items to use as decoration of your man cave area. I feel this would be a great find for someone interested in fly fishing. The feathers and furs fill two gallon freezer bags. One of the pictures shows the whole lot together. Labeled items are. Peacock sword& eyes, grey squirrel, dubbing"something" marabou plumes, guinea,buck tail, speckled brown turkey quill, duck pointer quills(smelly bag) goose quill, black and red phase squirrel, tinsel. I found this fly fishing pocket hooks tin at a recent estate sale in Westfield. NJ. It was in a big tackle box that had items in it dating back to the 1930s. The flies are in excellent shape and really are remarkable as you can see by the photos. There are about 26 flies and one Pflueger Indiana spinner. The case and the flies don't have a logo or maker's mark on them. The tin snaps shut at its lip opening. The tin has some scratches. Hello and welcome to the auction and thank you for viewing.This is for a group of 13 old hooks.They all appear to be black japanned.Nine have tapered shanks and to the other four the shank appears constant.The largest hook measures a little over 5.5cm. from the tip of the shank to the bend and is for a salmon fly and equal to about a 6/0.The other 12 hooks measure from 2.4cm. for the largest and 1.1cm. for the smallest.This measurement again from the tip of the shank to the bend.I don't know where the largest hook came from but the smaller hooks as far as I aware came from some very old.Unused hooks that were sent to me at least 9 years ago. The largest hook has some red paint or similar to the bend area.The other hooks are all unused and in excellent condition. This lot is pre owned but some items appear to be brand new and others VERY gently used as they all look to be in good condition! As you can see there is a variety of clamps and special tools, bobbins and bobbin holder, feathers, hooks and other items, of which I am unsure of their use.
