Vintage Westinghouse Wattmeter Gauge. Circa 1890-1910. Large and heavy, the case measures 7.25" diameter and 4" deep. Studs measure an additional 3.5" Unit measures wattage in cents per hour, up to 3 cents. Weighs about 10 lbs. Complete inside with transformer and magnet. Powersurge coil inside has burned/done it's job, can be replaced easily. Glass dial, steel case and iron back. Brass studs on back. You are bidding on a Westinghouse portable Ammeter for alternating current only. The Type is PY-5. The serial number is 2129737. It also has a number S.1008499. There is a lot of information on the card and says the following: This instrument operates on the repulsion moving iron principles. A multi-range current transformer is mounted inside. The case restricting the use of the this instrument to a-c. If the a-c wave has a dc component, the instrument will read the rms value of the ac symmetrical wave only. The accuracy rating is 1/2 of 1 per cent. This accuracy rating applies when the instrument is correctly used within the temperature range and the frequency range specified. The calibration is on the basis of 25 degrees C. Ambient temperature. For ambient temperature within the range of 15 degrees C to 35 degrees C the temperature error ... moreis less than the rated accuracy. The instrument is designed to stand an overload of 50% continuously or somewhat higher intermittent loads. The elements are shielded from external magnetic fields up to 5 oersteds in value. Really sweet old meter. The outside shell/case has a dent in it. And the glass is gone. But the good news, it did its job protecting the inside. I dont believe anything on the inside was effected, it all appears to be intact to me.Nice gears in this baby, Steampunk is looking to bust out and become another beautiful creation.The only other thing I can think to mention is, the bottom wire connection cover plate is gone, so naturally it won't be present upon delivery, sorry.Did the best I could, it won't be too terribly difficult to fabricate another.If you need to ask a question, please do.I'll get ya back timely fashion. The Kilowatts and Volt Meters have the patent dates: Dec. 25th 1896-July 11th 1905/The Amp Meter has the patent dates: Feb. 25th 1896-July 11th 1905. The Single Phase House type meter does not show a patent date that I can find. If you are starting a collection; you will have a GREAT start right here. Ya gotta love the 25 amps, LoL! 1. clothes dryer would use up the entire service and them some. It's hard to see in the photos, but the glass has amethysts hue to it.Steampunk masterpiece coming on.As far as I know the only thing missing is the bottom wire connection cover plate. Not an electrical person. Please ask questions and I will try to answer. Following is the info on the meter: Westinghouse watthour meter. 5 amps 120 volts. type CS. single phase s.821541 serial 15 244 397. two wire MADE IN USA 11-7-1937. Nicely cased. Portable. Plugged it in and attached my fryer to it and the large wheel started to spin around. Found some info on the web: The CS was a completely new design and the first of the modern socket meters. When meter mounting arrangements were standardized in 1934. The CS's enclosure design was emulated by the other manufacturers. The CA was introduced the same year when a new standard enclosure was developed for the bottom-connected singlephase meters. The first CS and CA meters had the same alphanumeric serial number system as the previous OC meters(and use the same stator design) The magnet ... moreassembly on this group of meters were painted black as was done on the OB and OC meters. In 1937, these meters had two changes: The magnet assembly was now painted silver and the alphanumeric serial number format was abandoned, the first new serial number being#15,000,000. Starting in 1940(16,500,000) the magnet assembly got a heavy layer of copper plating for surge protection(but this method was not as effective as using Alnico magnets) During WWII, a limited number of meters were made and these have thin plated COPPER disks. Some CS and CA meters are known with cyclometer or odometer registers and these are not as common as the pointer-type register.

Up for auction is a Westinghouse Polyphase Watt Hour meter from the early 1900's. Don't know too much about this unit. Just what was found searching online. One site we went to stated that the serial number indicated it was built 1906- 1920 era. It was removed from a local factory. And that building is from the turn of the century. Other than that. It looks very old, showing the wear and tear that comes with age. It weighs in at 25 lbs so check shipping costs before bidding. Local pickup is an option. Email any questions before bidding. Here I have a vintage Westinghouse single phase Type CA 3 wire 240 V USA electric meter that is complete with glass globe! Overall great looking condition with no breaks to outside or glass! It is serial#20 379-296 Type CA S.976661 15 Amp 240 Volts. No rust to metal but slight wear to paint on the line load cover. Nothing bad at all! It is as found so I do not know if it will work or if repair will be needed but it would be a gret parts meter if anything else! The inside looks good and clean and complete. The size is 9" long with the hanging latch on top included in the measurement. 5 3/4" tall from back to top of glass globe cover and 6 1/4" wide. Type VA-33, model SG-41309-n3-1, unsure if it works, is in good condition, the glass is clear w/o scratches and the face of the gauge looks very good as well. there is some paint loss around the edges of the front frame. The case near the back is cracked all the way around, I will tape it before shipping, doesn't really seem to affect the integrity of the gauge, as it's not falling apart or anything. The housing is heavy cast iron. The top of the meter is embossed LINE LOAD and has 4 wire leads. It is in excellent condition with one chip on the rim on the very bottom. This auction is for a Vintage Westinghouse Single Phase Type C Watthour Meter. 40 Amps 100 Volts 40 Cycles. Style# PX18699. Pittsburgh. PA USA. It is in fair used condition. Has scratches, paint/coating loss, rust, and ware throughout. It does have some paint overspray residue. No cracks, but does have a small chip to rim of glass cover. I do not know if cover comes off properly or not. There is some rust to screws. I do not know if meter actually works. Meter is very heavy! Please view pictures for condition issues. Vintage Westinghouse Type M45 Recording A-C Voltmeter Steampunk 60 cyc 120 volt. This weighs over 17 pounds. The size is approximately 12" tall x 9 1/2" wide x 5 1/2" deep. On the inside there is a plate screwed on that says- made in USA Westinghouse Recording A-C Voltmeter Type M45 60 CYC 90- 140 V STYLE CN-88335N3-2 TIMING MECH 120 V 60 CYC SYN LAMP CIRCUIT V CHART.1&7 DAY TD68. There are scratches and scuffs on the outside. It is very clean on the inside. There is a screw that releases the electrical components. The glass window is not cracked but could use a good cleaning. There is a paper chart that says Miamitown 41. We do not know if this works. It does has a cloth cord that is attached to 4 terminals on the back side. We did not plug it in. It has one bracket for mounting on the back. We will take it off for shipping ... morepurposes, but the bracket will be mailed in the box with the item.
