Early 20th Century GE Watthour Electric Power Meter 1913-1927
This Auction is for a very old General Electric Single-Phase Watthour Meter No. 9539-211 Type. I-14 Cyc. 60 Amp. 15 Volts 220 3 Wire. The item appears to be in original condition having been well cared for over the past 8 0 or so years since it has seen service. This is a vintage early 20th century type I-14 induction residential watt-hour meter dating between 1913- 1927. Clear glass pane protects the four dials. Removal of the two wing nuts allows access to the electrical components. In 1915. GE purchased the fort Wayne electric works which it had wholly owned since 1898 and operated it as an extension of their meter plant in West Lynn, Ma until meter manufacturing was discontinued at Fort Wayne in May 1929. The I-14 was an upgrade from the earlier models(I. I-8 and I-10) since it has much easier access to the terminals.
