I don't know if this works but it came from an Ohio collection put together by an electrical company worker. Several of the previous meters I sold were reported to work by buyers. I use solid styrofoam to pack the meter and keep it from moving. I've shipped about two dozen of them without incident. As an electrician for 32 years. I still favor these types of meters over digital meters in some situations. Checking relay contacts, setting up balanced magnetic switches, continuity, Ohms. the needle movement gives a nice quick visual indication. If i need precision ill use my digital meter but this old school type is my favorite for trouble shooting. i believe this to be a 1992 model. Based on the date on manual provided with the meter. Old Estate Find. This vintage portable watthour meter is 6 ½ tall x 5 ½ wide x 5 ¼ deep. It has an outlet on the side to plug in a device and a knife switch on the front. The dial on the front has a face that reads zero to twenty kilowatt hours with SANGAMO logo with arrow indicator and power wheel. Dial glass has been replaced with a thin sheet of plastic some time in the past. It has some tears in it. Top handle is missing. Painted white some time in the distant past also. I did not attempt to plug in and test. Cord is old and frayed. Knife switch does move up and down. Interior looks clean. Power wheel does turn by hand. Really sweet old meter. Hard pressed to find many of these type meters anymore.Notice the running gears, Awesome! Back in those days they gold plated all of the brass gears, out of this world cool. Ya gotta love the 25 amps, LoL! 1. clothes dryer would use up the entire service and them some. It's hard to see in the photos, but the glass has amethysts hue to it.Steampunk masterpiece coming on.As far as I know the only thing missing is the bottom wire connection cover plate. Up for bid is a very nice Sangamo Type JA watthour meter.It is a 120 volt. 5 amp, 2 wire unit.These meters were built from 1940-1954.my serial number log shows this unit was built in late 1941.In 1940,the HFS and HFA meters were replaced by the JA and JS meters.the basic concepts behind the HFS and HFA meters were retained and updated.Initially,these meters were to be produced with chrome steel magnets, but just prior to production, these magnet assemblies were replaced with the new alnico magnets.The steel base on the HFS(which was prone to rusting out) was replaced with an aluminium base on the JS. The meter is in very good condition.the glass cover has little to no scratches and is still sealed in place by the original lead seal.I have never broken this seal and the buyer will recieve it still sealed.The wireway cover is attached.The interior ... morelooks like new and is very clean and bright. the tag is very clean and readable and has the utility company's serial number plate attached.The paint is in good condition but could stand a good cleaning.This meter will make a nice addition to a vintage meter collection or may be used for some other project if desired. Up for bid is a nice vintage Sangamo Type HFA watthour meter.It is a 115 volt.5 amp,2 wire unit.These meters were built from 1934-1940.My serial number log shows this unit was built in late 1937.With the standardization of meters in 1934,The HC element was incorporated into the newly standardized housing.In addition to socket(HFS) and A-base(HFA) versions,two other versions were produced: The HFB and HFC.The HFB had a special 2-part terminal block that allowed testing of the meter in place, and the HFC has the HFB terminal block in an enclosure for outside mounting of the meter. Of the later versions,GE was the only other company to make similar models: The I-20B and I-20C. Here is a rare example of a Single Phase Watthour Thermal Demand"A" Base Meter. It is a direct connect meter. Rated at 50 Amps, 230 Volts, 60 Cycles. Its maximum current is rated at 130 Amps. The disk constant is 6 and 2/3. The Demand scale reads 30 kw-full scale. This meter has a nice red wax Canadian Government inspection seal from 6-1958. There is a modest reserve to protect my investment. SN C3867531. This unit is quite heavy for its size. GE Type DSM-55 polyphase switchboard style watthour meter
Up for bid is a nice newer GE DSM-55 polyphase switchboard style demand watthour meter.It is a 240 volt.3 phase, 4 wire Y unit.These meters were built from 1957-1999.my serial number log shows this unit was built in late 1980.With the introduction of the V-60 series of meters,the older DS series of meters were superseded by the DS-50 and DS-60 line of switchboard meters.These meters have the same elements as the transformer rated V-60 polyphase meters and follow the same numbering scheme.The DS-60 was the standard version with a connecting plug used to complete the connections between the meter cradle and the case(removing the plug activates a built-in bypass for the current connections) and which could easily be exchanged for a test plug. The DS-60 cradle could also be removed from the case for repairs if needed. The DS-50 was a lower cost ... moreversion with the cradle hard-wired to the case(the cradle could be moved forward for testing but an external test switch was required for these meters. This meter is in excellent condition.The case has little to no scratches.The plexiglass is clear with little to no scratches.The internal componennts are in like new condition.All of the transformer connection screws are in place and still has short lengths of wire connected to them.Even though this meter is somewhat newer than the other meters I have.It is still a very nice meter and will make a nice addition to a meter collection. Vintage1920's or 1930's RARE WESTINGHOUSE WATT HOUR ELECTRIC METER TYPE OB
You are bidding on a vintage 1920's or 1930's Westinghouse Electric meter that is in very good condition except for a small chip in the glass as shown in one of the photos. These are often used to make into lamps where the meter dials move when the light is turned on. It is a bit hard to read due to the small bar on top of the meter. But the serial number is 11 549 458. I have not tried to run current through the meter, so I can't be sure that it works, but it appears to be in working condition. Please contact me if you have questions.
