Truly magnificent Victorian/Edwardian Heavily Silverplated Buffet food warmer. Measures approx. 12 3/4" x 9 1/4" Deeply relief scalloped edge. Hinged lid with what appears to be an ivory finial. Same ivory handles. Can be removed while piece is polished. Hot water reservoir with screw top closure. Feet are rounded, inverted pyramid type. Bottom stamp: Made in England. Here we have today from Reed& Barton is a vintage silverplate piece marked 1900. I am not sure of what it actually is. Looks to be some kind a warmer. Piece is marked on the bottom No 95 gilt, it is 3" tall and 5" across, the inside piece is removable and 1 1/2" deep and 3 1/2" in diameter. Piece does have significant silver loss to both the main piece and the insert. Piece is monogrammed CLC 1900 on the front and despite the silver loss and small dents to the rim of the insert, it is a neat piece. Chocolate Tempering Warmer
Lightly used. Direct tempers. Melts and holds tempered chocolate at desired temperature. This warmer is perfect for small and medium sized operations. This is a warming unit. But you can direct temper by leaving seed chocolate in unit overnight to melt to 32C, then stirring the next morning. Unlike most table-top tempering machines this unit does not have a baffle in the middle of the vessel and is quite large. This makes molding much neater and easier. This was an extra unit for my shop, and simply wasn't getting used enough. The unit has been kept up very well. The temperature gauge is still right on the money. The pan can be removed to wash. In fact, the entire unit is surprisingly light-weight, making it a cinch to clean. Paid nearly $900 for unit new. Shipping is extra.
