This auction is for a vintage aluminum and cast iron gooseneck lamp with an industrial style. It was originally a heat lamp. But it is missing it's heating element. It has a normal porcelain socket that fits a regular light bulb. It has it's original cord, in good pliable condition and the aluminum shade has no dents or dings. It was made with no on/off switch, it goes on when plugged in. It has no maker's name, but it does have a(flaking) decal from the American Medical Association. Vintage Zoalite Z-70 medical heat therapy lamp
Description The Zoalite Z-70 heat lamp was the preferred medical cure all in the 20's and 30's. Made by the Burdick Corporation, MIlton, Wisconsin. This lamp is still functional for its original use or as I have seen they can be converted to accept a modern light bulb. It has its original beige color scheme on the aluminum shade(9.5" and stem. The original bakelite switch is fully operational and it does heat the element up very quickly. The lamp is adjustable via a ball hinge joint on top of a goose neck telescopic extension pole which allows the lamp to be removed and used as a handheld. Patina of the lamp is original making it a great example of early medical therapy. This is a must have for any medical enthusiast or Deco style lover. This is a preferred pick up item as postage will be high on this item due to the size and ... moreweight. Measurements The height of the lamp can be adjusted from 72" down to 42" which sits on a weighted splayed web foot pedestal. Unusual Antique Scientists Tin Laboratory Alcohol Heat Lamp
This highly unusual lamp was used in a laboratory probably in the 1860-1880 period. It originally had 6 caps for each of the spouts. Depending on how much heat was desired for a specific experiment a certain number of spouts would be capped to get the right amount of heat. For example if lots of heat was needed the scientist would use all of the spouts but if the scientist wanted a cooler temperature he would put the caps on a few of the spouts. The varying sizes and the large amount of spouts allowed the user to have very good control of the experiment temperature. The lamp itself probably ran on alcohol and is made of tin. Except for the spout area and the cap which are made of brass.
