This auction is for an OLD PLASTIC BOX. I believe Celluloid, ivory in color, printed in black, on lid"THE HARTFORD STEAM BOILER, INSPECTION AND INSURANCE CO" With a steam engine logo and date 1866. The small box measures approximately 1" tall with a 2 5/8" diameter. Condition: It's important that you're pleased with your purchase. So please view all photos before bidding. As expected, due to age, the box has an old patina. The center train image shows some fading, or wear, as do some of the letters. The inside top lid, has residue from an old fabric lining. Perhaps the residue can be removed using the correct solvent. I don't want to risk damaging the plastic, so I'll leave that possibility to the buyer. There are No cracks, chips, or repairs.

Here is a vintage original metal frame and glass insert with original paper for the inspection of Santa Fe boiler#1837. LOCOMOTIVE UNIT#4, in Brownwood Texas. 1968. This is the first one of these I've see in a long while, as most were bolted to the locomotive cab wall and went with the engine when scrapped. It has the original greenish-grey paint and slides out of the bracket to get at the papers inside the frame. 4-mounting holes on the reverse. It is 9 1/2" x 6" and has all the information on what was checked from staybolts. The molding is 13 ¼ inches wide by 15 ¼ ... morelong and the overall height is 8 ¼ inches. This wood case is finely hand painted with a three color folk art grained decoration. On the front is a brass label, which reads“A Seaport Town, by R. V. Fitzgerald. Inside this wonderful harbor diorama are four ships. Two are sailing ships, one is a steam ship, and there is one small fishing boat. These ships are all rigged and you will find small carved sailors on board. In one corner of the diorama is a small row boat with another hand carved sailor. In the middle of the diorama is a town square and there are six buildings including a bank, a fire department, a church, a library, and police station, and three corner stores connected together. As you look at the close-up photographs, you will see that the folk artist has incorporated other items such as chest pieces, cuff links, and advertosments on the sides of the buildings. All the small people are hand carved and this diorama is in remarkable, original condition. It is missing the top glass, which is an easy replacement. Knute Thompson& Sons 12th Annual Steam Thresher Show July 1969 The next(red one) says July 4th Cottonwood Lions Club Cottonwood MN No idea what year this one is from but older for sure by looking at the back style. the next is from the fall festival at Cottonwood in 1980 Sherwin Linton Show and the last is from the Cottonwood MN Centenial from July 1988# 1905“It isn’t far to Cottonwood” These buttons measure 1& 1/2” for the smaller one and about 2& 1/2” on the larger. 1893 Chicago Worlds Fair Illinois Central Railroad 4-4-0 Steam Engine Display
Up for auction is something you usually only see at a railroad museum today. I bought this directly from the family who had built this back in 1892. He made three models of this, and this is the one that made it to the 1892-1893 world's fair, I don't have all the history other than it was there, and who built it. That's all I can provide for provenance, I wish there was more, but it's very hard with items like this. The main thing the family told me was that he had a hard time casting the drivers, and Sunday afternoons it was a family treat to roll this out of the case, and enjoy it. This is all hand made, and original. The case has all of it's original glass, and it's hard to make out but the glass is wavy, and full of little bubbles here, and there. The gold paint highlighting the cab has deteriorated over the years, ... morethe wood boiler has shrunk leaving the bands sticking up a bit. Overall this is a beautiful display, and I saved it from the family, as they had planned to"restore" it, which in my pinion would have destroyed it if they did restore it. There are repairs here, and there over the 121 years, and a sand pipe is missing, as well as the mirror that was used on one side of the cab. To me, this just gives it character. The headlights have straw flowers put in them, and the family told me that these were from the fair as well. I think the pictures speak for themselves, this has aged, it is not pristine, and the paint has dulled, but the tender is pretty bright, as it appears to be a different paint then the boiler, and I believe that's because a professional sign painter back in the day needed a smoother surface for the fantastic hand lettering, and striping. If this could only speak, I'm sure it would have plenty to tell. 1930"s MAPPIN & WEBB COCKTAIL SHAKER FOR BISN BRITISH INDIA STEAM NAVIGATION CO
VINTAGE 1930'S MAPPIN& WEBB SILVER PLATE ART DECO COCKTAIL SHAKER W29490 DESIGNED BY KEITH MURRAY MADE FOR BISN LTD. BRITISH INDIA STEAM NAVIGATION CO. This shaker stands 9 1/2" tall and does have some condition issues. There are 3 separate dents( on the body of the shaker) that look like a pencil was stabbed into the shaker. They are pinpoint dents. 2 are together( shown in my pictures) and they are by far the most prominent. The third is very minimal. Also the top of the lid, along the edge has dents that appear to have happened when the shaker was banged on something. There are also 3-4 very tiny nicks that take some effort to find. I did some polishing but it could definitely use another go at it! Even after polishing there were a few small spots that looked like water spots, not silver loss. The inside is also in need of ... morea cleaning, it is not horrid, just not clean enough to use. The sieve or strainer is in perfect condition. I attributed this shaker model to the designer Keith Murray after seeing his designs on the web. His name is not on the shaker. The glare made it hard to photograph the logo with BISN as well as affecting all my pictures. The British India Steam Navigation Co. It weighs just over 50 lbs. The whistle is in great shape for its age but definitely shows signs of use and wear. To my knowledge it has not been polished anytime recently but I am not sure. This is a great collectors piece. The wooden base it sits on has broken and it will need to be screwed into a new base to safely stand up and display. Antique brass George T Ladd Company steam gauge. This piece is marked across the bottom Federal Warranted Chicago-Marshalltown trademark. The face is silvered and lettered in black; the dial is also black. There are two rows of numbers on the outer and inner edges of the gauge marks. This is a large and impressive size at approx. 14 1/2" diameter and a little over 2" thick. There is a small blemish on the face(see photos) The stem is still intact and there appears to be nothing wrong with this piece. I am unsure if it works and have no way of testing it. Vintage Steam Locomotive Train Bell in Original Cradle This bell was given to me in the early 1950's The bell was manufactured by DE W. VANDUZEN Co. which is stamped on the bell itself(see pic#7) It was probably forged at their Buckeye Bell Foundry in Cincinnati. Ohio It also carries the marking D- 1075- C(see pic#11) Specifications are: Bell Throat diameter: 12" Bell Height: 8" Cradle widest point: 14" Cradle Height: 14" Clapper Length: 7" Clapper Diameter: approx: 2 1/4" Base: 11" x 7" Crank Arm: 7 1/2" Total Weight: 80 lbs. ORIGINAL 1920s to 1940s STEAM LOCOMOTIVE TRAIN BRASS BELL BEAUTIFULLY RESTORED
Here we have an estate fresh. Gorgeous Original Steam Locomotive Train Bell, a Brass Bell, that was no doubt ringing on a Virginia Steam Locomotive Train from perhaps the 1920s to the 1940s. I'm not an expert on old bells, so you who know what you're looking at will know more than me. The bell/yoke/cradle has been meticulously restored decades ago and was meant to be displayed because it is rests on a thick round wooden pedestal base 13" in diameter. The brass bell has been cleaned and is smooth in surface texture and does not appear to have been polished, although I have seen similar bells polished to a mirror finish, and this example is not like that. The brass bell itself is nearly 15-inches in diameter at the bottom and the height is nearly 12-inches and it weighs approx. 80-90-pounds including the clapper mechanism. The ... moreonly marking on the bell is inside the bell itself and that is L1110, likely a foundry/casting number, not sure. The rest of the bell, the yoke, cradle, finial and wooden base weigh 80-90-pounds, for a total weight of approx. 160-180-pounds, my estimate. The cast iron parts have been cleaned and painted wrought iron matte black. The overall height is approx. 25-inches and the overall width is approx. 19-inches not counting the ring handle. The finial and the base nuts are brass as you can see from the photos. The bell ring clarity is incredibly striking and can be heard a long way off. This would make an outstanding addition to any railroad buff's den. Due to the weight. I simply cannot ship this bell and it will be for LOCAL PICK UP ONLY and I can make arrangements for pickup. Plain Bell Brass Steam Whistle for Sawmill Boiler, Steam Traction Engine, Boat,
This is a small plain bell steam whistle in excellent condition. It looks like new to me. But I am listing it as used. It measures a full 1 1/2 inches in diameter and has a 3/8 inch threaded inlet with the nipple in it. The length of the bell itself is just under 5 inches and the overall length including the nipple is 10 inches. The only markings I see on it is 116 on the hex nut on the bottom and P147 around the rim of the bowl. I believe this to be a Kahlenberg whistle. Though it is not marked. It may be used as an air whistle or a steam whistle. This would be a great item for anyone wanting a steam whistle for a railroad display. A smaller scale steam locomotive, boat or ship, sawmill boiler, factory, steam tractor or steam traction engine, etc.
