The fan with the dutch children reads'The Amsterdam Dutch' Ser 632' The other fan does not have any writing pertaining to the litho. Both fans are blank on the back. And the pages are very clean and free of markets. The darl blue boars are edgeworn, especially at the corners and the spine. The gold gilt lettering is very clear and crisp. Before the wide spread use of electric and natural gas ranges and ovens. The best selling ranges ans stoves were the Acorn brand, manufactured and sold by Rathbone, Sard& Co. The company was well known for its colorful and graceful advertising posters and magazine ads. This catalog pictures and describes the full range of Acorn stoves and ranges, plus some burners and radators. In 1860. 17-year old Grange Sard, Jr. began work for stove-makers Rathbone& Company. He ... moreproved to be specially gifted in metalworking and casting, and he was made a partner eight years later. In 1873 the company was renamed Rathbone, Sard& Company. The factory operated in one of the largest industrial plants in Albany and by 1886 had an annual output of about 75,000 stoves. Sard presided over the company in later years and was succeeded by his son Russell Ellis Sard. The younger Sard oversaw the company's transition to making electric"Acorn" stoves and ranges in the early twentieth century.
