Vintage Winston Hemmer Button Sewer Stitcher
Up for auction is a vintage WINSTON Sewing Tool. This tool is a hand held Hemmer. Button Sewer, and Stitcher. It is about 5 inches long and 4 12 inches high. This tool is in good condition except that the plastic screw that holds the thread on the machine appears to be stripped. According to the diagram that was with the tool, it may be missing its thread cutter, which is a minor issue. Vintage Speedy Stitcher Sewing Awl Kit, Bobbin, 6 Needles, 180 Yard Skein Thread
This is a really neat old time vintage"Speedy Stitcher Sewing Awl Kit" from out of the 1950's I think. It has a huge skein of waxed thread and six needles and comes with the original box reinforced by strong clear packing tape to retain its shape. I don't think this was ever used. I bought it to redo an old canvas outfitter tent and a couple of Duluth canoe packs. Sewing on leather straps. But I already had one from the 1960's and was able to do the job without using this one. It will take on just about any job that requires a really strong stitching awl, and will work on leather and canvas, as well almost any type of upholstery material you might come up with. It would poke through aluminum sheeting or thin galvanized roofing, but I imagine the strong waxed thread would eventually get frayed. It is too'funky' ... morespecial to sit in the cabinet of my log cabin another few years without seeing daylight, so I'm putting it up for auction. It comes with a 180 YARD skein of waxed# 6 thread, which I assume is either course or between true course and fine. The paper instructions are browned with age and made of much thicker and stronger paper than we see today. The spare pack of needles are in cellophane, not in plastic, and it is a real old fashioned country store type cardboard box.the flap on the cover is a cutout and will stand up for display purposes. I can't find any copyright dates, but this looks like it came from a lost planet still living in the 1920's or 30's, though I would guess it is most probably form the 1950's. This was made by Stewart Manufacturing Company, in Worcester, Mass, in the days when they still had manufacturing plants in the towns west of the Boston area. My other one was not a nice kit like this and I bought it about 1960, and this is considerably older, and seems to be more nicely made. This is from the era where U. S. manufacturing dominated because of its quality. It is a nice time capsule, would fit right in with an old fashioned saddle shop.

Stitcher Landis 12 K curved needle leather boot or shoe making Used Landis model 12 K curved needle stitcher in good condition. These stitchers are generally used to stitch the soles of boats and shoes. As can be seen in the video we ran the stitcher without thread and it sounded and operated very smoothly. Watching all of the mechanisms work together in this machine is quite impressive. The right foot peda operates the material clamp while the left in the stitching speed control. The further the left pedal is pressed the more pressure is applied to the clutch mechanism which increases the stitch speed. Although we did make stitches with with the machine it is apparent the condition of the metal surfaces and operation of all the mechanisms are very good. THe paint is in fair condition and there is a crack in the rear of the upper plastic ... moreshroud. There is a 115v newer drive motor installed but the long drive belt is older and should be replaced soon. Originally this machine had a controller or switch box for the heaters which is no longer present so none of the heaters are currently operational. This is a large group of Greist sewing machine attachments. They were distributed between two boxes. So I'm not sure that the box in the photo is accurate, so I'm just going to tell you what the parts are marked. There is a binder, a 5 stitch ruffler, hemmer, edge stitcher, and more. A few of the pieces have light rust, but I wouldn't hesitate to use them. There's a 1957 booklet included, but not sure that it applies to these parts.
