Top has been stitched to paper ~ both old newspapers and what appears to be brown paper bags. Quilt top has several issues. stitching coming apart in mulitple areas. Some holes/ tears, missing edging and some spots. This is a wonderful piece for someone who treasures the time that went into it many. Many years ago, and someone who loves challenges! Although fabrics appear pretty strong, I consider this top to be quite fragile overall. Each square- not including the red edging- measures approximately 10-1/2" square. For your consideration I have a very Nice Antique REX Paper roller/ cutter. This cutter features what appears to be a Walnut top and has cast iron legs. Each leg features intricate Victorian swirl designs. The cast iron blade portion reads"REX" with a"24" on both sides indicating that this device cuts paper 24" wide. This roller would have been mounted in a general store for the merchant to wrap up your items or gifts nicely to transport safely. Each cast iron leg features two holes for easy mounting to a counter. This item measures 28 1/2" long by 11 1/2"tall and is 3" in depth. It is in pretty good condition. The original finish is blue and is still pretty vibrant. It does exhibit some minor surface rust from age that just adds character. Appears to have had a metal pole or rod that would sit in groove to hold paper in place.You will have to find a rod or wood dowel to use. The sides are fancy. The item we are offering is an antique REX General Store/Butcher Shop rolled paper holder/cutter with the cast iron store cone string holder dispenser. This paper dispenser has been disassembled. Bead blasted, primed, and given 2 coats of a period correct satin black enamel finish. The dispenser and string holder have been mounted on a red oak base and given a rich reddish/brown hand rubbed wood oil finish, period correct hardware was utilized during the final assembly. The cutter bar has been adorned with tasteful gold accents. This item will be shipped with a fresh 30 inch long roll of white paper and a fresh cone of store wrapping string. This auction is for an antique vintage"Noxall 18" gift wrap roll paper cutter. The man I purchased this from said it was from his parents general store and they used it for gift wrapping. It still has alot of the original black paint. And still has a good straight cutting edge. The holes in the top wood bar were drilled for the wrapping ribbon spools. The cutting bar has a few nicks on the TOP back side, which does NOT effect the cutting edge(last photo) The cutter measures 22 3/4" wide by 11 3/4" high, and the paper roll slot is 20" wide. Like the kind you would use to wrap gifts inside a box or for lining. Cutter measures 22" across. The wooden rail at the top measures 23 1/2" across. Cutter stands approx. 12" tall. Paper roll is 5 3/4" across and there is a wooden dowel in the center that measures 2 1/2" across. The actual rod that holds the paper in place is about 3/4" diameter. Seybold Paper Cutter Trimmer Guillotine 38" Early 1900s Vintage Antique
Vintage Seybold cutter. Turn-of-the-century era, 100% working and awesomely vintage. Not sure of year but last patent on plate is 1909. This cutter has seen rare usage in our plant for the past 6 years, and before that was in storage for at least a decade or two. We brought it out and cleaned it up and found that it's gorgeous. Installed a new 10hp motor and Teco inverter for soft start(alone over $1,500 together) and used it maybe 1-2 times per week for random small jobs. Metal tape readout with magnifier still functions and reads up to 38" depth but back guide can go about another 1/2" 39" width opening will cut a 38" sheet comfortably. Little or no rust or corrosion, well maintained. Quite possibly has the original paint, as well. Would make a great vintage/historical piece for a printer's lobby, or a workhorse ... morecutter for small print shop. ANTIQUE GENERAL STORE CAST IRON WRAPPING PAPER HOLDER & CUTTER THE PIQUA
This is an antique cast iron wrapping paper holder and cutter. The kind used long ago in general stores and butcher shops. It is constructed of two cast iron legs. Both marked"The Piqua" which are held at the top by a solid oak slat. There is a wooden rod in the center for holding the paper roll and a spring mounted steel edge for holding and cutting the paper. The piece is in very good condition and it looks like it can still be used if desired. It measures 12 1/2" tall by 28 1/2" long. The rod will hold a paper roll up to 24" wide.

My item was a gift to my husband for his woodworking shop. It is a large Square Brand Spring Paper Cutter from the early 1900s. He used it to roll out lengths of brown craft paper onto his work surface. It is definitely an antique. The condition is excellent. The springs that hold the paper to the roll are in great shape and hold the roll tight. The cutter bar works wonderfully. After he stopped using it. I thought about bringing it in and using it in my crafting room, but I never did. It would probably be very hand to use when wrapping Christmas presents. This is one of the older models that Mr. Milton Bradley invented before the newer"squared measure" surfaces. This one is a plain wooden surface. The handle has a very worn but still mostly readable factory stamp of"The Dandy- Pat'd Jan 15(or 16? 1895(possibly 1896) Please see the close up photo of this to see the condition of the marking. The ruler at the top is an 8½ inch wooden ruler There is also a hole where a"blade stop" dowel was(see photo) that the blade rested on. To keep from altering it's original condition any I did not place an old appropriate sized dowel or screw there that would suffice as a ... moreblad rest. Which is what I would do with a plain dowel were I keeping it, but leaving it in complete original condition here for the listing. As is. The wood table has a nice mellow patina to the under surfaces. The varnish on the exposed parts looks quite good for its nearly 100 years. Nice look has a very classic vibe takes one back to another time. This item was made around the WW1 era. This item cuts rather poorly I assume the blades need to be sharpened and the metal parts oiled real well. There is a hole for a screw that the blade sits on when its resting that is missing.
