The books have heavy wear. Fading scuffs. Tears, scratches, holes and other wear is prominent on all covers. The covers are loose on some of the volumes, but all are still attached. Spines are barely readable and some have missing pieces. The books were stored in a humid environment causing some water damage and warping some pages. The pages have discoloration, water marks, some foxing, the occasional dog ear or tear. I did not come across any missing, loose or unreadable pages but that is a possiblity. Make note that this set is in a very fragile state and needs someone who really cares about great literature to take care of it. I have found that this press was manufactured some where in the area of 1920 to 1923. or thereabouts. The#2 model weighs in at 2,200 Lbs. and is 78" Tall. When this press ... morewas built it was at the pinnacle of this style of design. This press has the Very Rare. Optional Auxiliary Yoke, to stabilize the Vertical Movement when put on Impression. This will Ensure that Slurs and Unwanted Sideways Movement is either Eliminated or kept to an absolute Minimum. This is a Wesel Mfg. Co. N.Y. Washington Style, Hand Printer's Proof Press. This press would be a beautiful addition to a small studio print shop. The Wesel Co. was in business from 1900- 1923. The platen size is 13 3/4 x 18. By doing some Research. I have found that this press was manufactured some where in the area of 1905 or thereabouts. It weighs in at approx. 900 Lbs. And is 63" Tall. The factory scribed two lines that find the dead center of the bed. For layout purposes. I have checked the bed and it has a slight low spot in the center area of.001 to.002. Which if OK, and normal. This press has an old paint job using a very good quality of primer and paint that could have been done 30 year's ago or so. All I did is wipe it down with a 50/50 mix of mineral spirits and new engine oil. I have not disassembled and/ or reassembled ... morethis press. Other than the figure 4 toggle mechanism and the platen adjustment. I did however paint on the gold leaf lettering and the large nuts on the top of the press. I have left the beautiful patina on the figure 4 toggle mechanism and also on the inner brass ring on the large wood handle. The outer rounded nut on the end of the handle was cleaned and then clear coated by some previous owner. I have also left the layers of ink that has built up over the years on the wood handle. I feel if the buyer want's to emery cloth. Sand and polish these in the future that is their option. T here is no Tympan or Frisket with this press. Antique Book High Art Nouveau Binding The Musical Educator c.1900-1910
One volume(Vol.III) from the original 5 volume set of‘The Musical Educator’ by John Greig. Published sometime between 1900 and 1910(judging by the high Art Nouveau cover design) by The Caxton Publishing Company of London. Large format(10.4" x 8" The olive-green linen cover has a raised design of stylized tulips with whiplash stems enclosing a wreath with crossed horns/trumpets. The gilded wording and spine motif are of similarly Edwardian/Art Nouveau design and they are completely intact as are all pages, plates and tissue covers. Fabulous condition. Very sound binding. A terrific vintage industrial cast iron press. Large and in nice condition, the wheel turns to raise and lower the top plate very easily with one finger. The wheel has six spokes and appears hand cast. Actually a facsimile printed circa 1790. Virtually identical to the 1682 edition, and differentiated only by minor typographical variations. See Westwood& Satchell, Bibliotheca Piscatoria, p. 156. And Wing N1193. A scarce 18th century printing of this classic angling treatise. Handsomely rebound in a fine full leather binding with notable provenance. See below. Nobbes is considered"the father of trollers" for being the first writer to treat trolling techniques at length. Although Izaak Walton and others touched upon the subject earlier. This work contains"a description of all the utensils, instruments, tackling, and materials" needed by the troller, ... morealong with"a brief account of most of the principal rivers in England. Illustrated by two woodcuts in the text. Provenance: Armorial bookplate on the front pastedown of noted angling author Joseph Delaplaine Bates. Jr. 1903-1988. Bates's works include the modern classics Fishing Atlantic Salmon: The Flies and the Patterns and Streamer Fly Tying and Fishing. Collated complete: 20) 78 pp. +(1) contents and(1) advertising page. A small volume, 6 by 3.35 inches. Good antiquarian condition. Later binding of full green Morocco leather. Raised spine bands, gilt title lettering, and gilt-decorated inner dentelles. Evidently rebound some time in the 20th century, with new endpapers added and early printed marbled wraps also bound in. Printing does not appear to pertain to this book. Binding is supple and unworn. Spine aged to a warm medium brown, as green-dyed leathers are prone to do. Borders of endpapers browned from contact with the dentelles. Text pages show typical age-toning and some edge chips, but fully legible with no stains or foxing. Hinges and joints strong and intact. Quite sound for reading or reference in the modern binding. c1870 CATHOLIC Prayer Book KEY OF HEAVEN Fine Binding DEVOTIONAL Holy Bible RARE
NP. ND; c1870-80. Extremely rare Catholic prayer book. An esquisitely bound example. This piece is bound in raised and embossed gilt adorned leather, as shown, with a central cross design; the spine with gilt titling, design and rule, topped off with beautiful gilt to the page edges. The covers and spine exhibit minimal wear, with just a small bump to the center of the front board. The front hinge remains intact, although the isnide pastedown has separated from the front board, exposing an interesting German broadside fragment from St Louis. The rear pastedown has done the same, although that one remains detached as the rear hinge is opened up. Illustrated with many scenes and figures throughout. Pages lightly browned, besides main title which is lacking, all pages present and complete. Unmarked. Pocket sized, measuring 5.25" x 3.75" ... morex 2" Pages xxvi(422) 96; upon examination using Worldcat, this remains an unidentified copy. Good luck!

Antique/Vintage Cast Iron Book Binding Press Industrial Steam Punk Flower Reno
This is a cast iron book press. I'm not sure of the age. But it's an oldie. It's 18 1/2" long x 10 1/4" wide x 11 1/2" tall. It doesn't have the bottom plate. But it still can be attached to your workbench with long bolts. A bottom plate can easily be made out of a plank of wood, or a piece of metal with machined holes. There is some rust on the bottom of the plate. A small piece of metal has broken off the bottom of one of the vertical arms, and there is a small crack on the bottom of the other one.
