Manual Spiral Coil Binding Machine / Book Binder / w BONUS coils and crimper
Up for auction is my trusty and reliable book binder machine. Included in this auction: one binding machine. One coil crimper tool, one catch pan for punched out paper, one removable binding machine pull handle, eighteen(18) 8mm black 12" coils to make books, seventy two(72) 6mm black 12" coils to make books. I had to make tour books one summer and made a number of them but after I put it in the closet and never had any use for it again. It is in very clean shape. I think I paid around $100 for it in 2006. I have included a total of 90 bonus coils so you can start making your books right away. The machine weighs approximately 10 pounds and is 14.5 inches wide, 9 inches deep, and 6 inches tall(with the arm removed) Please look at the photos and ask me any questions you may have. This is one stamp/embossing die of 33 that will be up for auction. All appear to be quite old and all have been used. I cleaned the die ends so that they could be photographed adequately. I also buffed the side of the shank of those that have identifying markings so that it would be observable in the photographs. The markings could be either a manufacturer or a former owner(s) No guarantees. My intended brief ownership of these tools has given me the opportunity to explore, briefly, the art of bookbinding. Other than this brief encounter, I claim no special knowledge of the tools and leave it to you to make your own determination as to their origination. With the exception of the handles(wear, cracks, burns, insect damage) they are well constructed and appear to be read to be once again put to use. A little bit of gold leaf remains on one edger. The wooden handles are all in good condition with no cracks and measure about 5.75 inches long. This set could possibly be French made. But no pieces are marked.

Antique Cast Iron Dolphin Bookpress, Book Press, Book Binding, Letter Press
Antique Ornate Cast Iron Dolphin Bookpress. Book Press, Book Binding, Letter Press I am offering for your consideration this extraordinary well sought after cast iron book press with mythical dolphins sitting upon fluted columns circa 1840. I was told this beautiful piece was found in the basement of an old Ohio printing company now closed. The only defects I can see on the piece are as follows: You can see in picture 7 and 10 that when the press is open the plate hangs crooked and in picture 1 when fully closed it does sit flush. Picture 6 you can see the embossed border of the base is not completely straight and there is a slight lift to the left corner of the base also seen in picture 6. Picture 3 and 4 shows minor pitting to the dolphin and picture 5 shows a divet in the edge all of these defects appear to be original to the piece and ... morewere probably defects in the molds. I have found no cracks or chips in the cast iron. The press area is 9" x 12" and opens 2 1/2" the press is 14" tall and the base is 17 3/4" wide and 11" deep and weighing about 50 pounds. The finish on the piece is a rusty brownish black and probably was painted at some time. Picture 12 shows the custom made padded out reinforced double box that the press will be shipped in that meets all shipping guidelines. Overall this is an excellent show piece for someone with interest or ties to the printing industry and its history. Need more pictures? Just ask. Vintage Book Binder Binding Choral Music Metal Clamps on Table UNIQUE
Vintage metal book or paper binder machine. Clamps on to a table and you attach binding tape on the spool holders. Turn the handle and it pulls the pages through. There is a cutter right ahead of the wheels that pull the paper through. Bed measures 12" x 9" From an old school choir room. So I imagine they used it for binding choir music. Does have one spot of rust on underside of bed(see pic) Very heavy so expect high shipping.
