For sale is this Varian UHV Sorption pump. With zeolite. The top conflat is fitted with a manifold that has two vacuum valves and a Veeco DV-1M gauge tube. This arrangement allows a mechanical pump to be used as the initial pressure reduction, and that can then be valved off to allow the sorption pump to achieve the high vacuum. The high vacuum pumping is realized by cooling the pump with liquid nitrogen in the provided LN2 dewar. These pumps have an advantage over oil diffusion pumps In that they are clean and oil-free. As long as the LN2 is maintained in the dewar surrounding the sorption pump, it remains at low pressure. Cryogenic performance is excellent. And a sealable threaded fixture at the top fill allows vacuum pumping the liquid nitrogen to a temperature of 50K. Volume of liquid vessel is 0.5 liters, which yields 24 hours of typical cold time for LN2. There is space on the cold plate for a“getter” to assist in maintaining the guard vacuum at very low pressures. A fused quartz 1.12” diameter window is installed at a centerline of 0.6” above the cold plate surface. The cold work space is 5.1” diameter x 3.5” h[standard without the extension was 1.5” There is a vapor-cooled radiation shield for excellent long-life cryogenic performance, and a sealable threaded fixture at the top fill allows vacuum pumping the liquid Nitrogen to a temperature of 50K with the included pumping fixture. This dewar can also be used with liquid helium, but with reduced hold time. The hose end has a flow restrictive nozzle for the in-user's safety. This is a low pressure dewar that is internally plummed for many applications. This unit is in great shape and can be put into use immediately upon arrival. The hose and nozzle usually are separate entities but I have included this as a package deal. If you have a small lab and use LN2 the safety nozzle is a very nice feature.
