This is a model 9B Pyrotester made by Gulton Industries. Operator's manual. Which is included, states revised as of February 1976. Not sure how this functions, but unit is in excellent condition with no cosmetic wear to unit or case. Used for measuring temperatures up to 3200 degrees F using thermocouples, checking millivoltmeter type, checking thermocouples, measuring emf's and a source for checking gains and linearity of d-c amplifiers. The probe connections on this one have screw down type connectors, while on the others they have the banana plug type connectors. The ADJUST knob is a little different too. There are instructions in the top inside of the lid and there is a No. 271 Test Standard 0.0025 Ohm test bar mounted inside the lid. These instructions look like most older military instructions. All knobs, switches, push button, probe screws move freely. Also, on other models I have seen, the closures on the case are different. Has a plate on the bakelite surface that says SERIAL NO. 21367 MANUFACTURED BY SHALLCROSS MFG. CO. COLLINGDALE, PA. U.S.A. Others I have seen were from Selma, N.C. The bottom section of the unit has two wires, + and- where the 1.5V dry cell batterys hook up to power the unit. Looks like there might have been another plate on front in the triangle of the three closure clasps. Has an old real leather carrying strap that is there, but stitching has come out. The top panel is made of a bakelite-type material and features the galvanometer and dial. The serial number"1138409" is embossed in white on the black surface. The instruction card is in place in the top lid. The back features four hinges and a battery compartment. In which the leads and original screws are present.
