I had personally used this controller for a couple of times in diagnosing helium leak detector spectrometer tubes so I can certainly confirm it is working. I really like cold cathode gauges as they are extraordinarily simple to use. There is no need to hunt around for specific pinouts for your gauge tube. You just have the one high-voltage line. I do not have the mating cable for this controller, in my use of this controller I simply used a high-voltage-rated wire.
