This auction is for a Frequency Electronics. Inc. FEI) model FE-5650A rubidium oscillator. The base unit is the model commonly found in telecom applications, but has been modified to make it much more useful to the instrument user community. There have been two major hardware versions of the 5650A manufactured, the earlier one used a 50.255 XTAL oscillator and the later version a 60MHz ... moreXTAL oscillator. This unit is one of the later versions, and the modifications particularly targeted towards digital GPSDO applications. The changes that have been made to the unit are: 1. Output has been changed from 15MHz to 10MHz. There are several jumper changes that can be made to the unit for different output frequencies. The unit has been changed from 15MHz in its previous application to 10MHz. This is much more desirable for driving reference inputs of test equipment. Software defined radios, and synthesizers. 2. Unit has been modified for 15V only operation. The unit has provisions on the circuit board for a 5V regulator as an option. But was not included in the cost sensitive telecom application. The regulator and associated filter caps and other components have been added so that the oscillator runs from 15V only. J1-4 is now a No Connect, so if plugged into a connector with 5V on pin-4 no harm is done. 3. This unit has digital control via the serial lines on pins 8 and 9 of the connector.
