The first explorers in the area misspelled the name. Thus changing the"C" to an"S" Herds of bison once roamed the prairies near the town of Sheyenne. The Sioux tribe were the final Native American tribe to move towards the area. The first white settlers came via the Northern Pacific Railroad Company. The earliest mention of the settlement came through the Grand Forks, North Dakota-based paper, Normadden. The Norwegian language paper mentioned the building of the section house in 1885 and the setting up of six tents in order to establish a townsite and a depot. The main track was laid on November 28. 1884. The railroad began operation to Sheyenne on August 6, 1885. The main townsite of Sheyenne was obtained by Clarence E. Bennett in 1885. But later came under the jurisdiction of J. W. Richter, who dedicated the townsite in 1892. The first crops grown in the area were common vegetables and as much wheat that the land could take. There is one hinge that is unattached. The case looks to be in good shape except for a tiny pin hole on one side lower corner. The velvet pad comes out- it notes this is a Seaman under the pad. This is an EXCELLENT example of a mid 1850's Thermoplastic Dag Union Case. It is a 1/9 plate. Black and I can't stress enough how beautiful this case is. It is perfect as far as I can see. This case has no cracks, no chips, no discoloring and the design is the same front and back. The hinges are tight and the clasp closes easily. The pillow is burgundy in color and is not faded, it is beautiful. The mat and protector are good and clean without tarnish. The image is of an older pretty lady and is clear and I don't see any flaking. It has the original advertisement behind the photo. Anyone would be proud to own this. This train has a dual mode DCC decoder installed in it. The Con-Cor part number is 0001-094176. This train is in good condition in the original box. Since this came in a collection with a decoder installed. I do not know the DCC program number assigned to the loco. Also, you may have to reset the decoder. The previous owner added decoders to most of the models and gave me a spreadsheet which shows that a Digitrax DZ125 decoder was added to this model.
