Please note that we have sold several of our 107-1 Singer machines recently and have but the one left. The one left is not shown here in this photo but ... moreis a bit nicer than the one shown. If you have any concerns just ask. This is the LAST of or stock of original Singer 107 sweat band machines for now. This auction is for an as is Singer 107-1 sweat band machine. This machine is offered as is only. Ask any questions you have before offering or bidding. We will box or crate these machines professionally as you request for shipment at an agreed fee or you can pick them up in person. This machine came from a hat shop that was closing in South Africa and has seen very little use and is in excellent condition. Stetson got the other one they had that had never been taken out of the box and was brand new but they paid dearly for it. Please note that this machine has received a brand new guide for fitted hats and is ready to add a motor and table to and start to work. We have tested this machine after a full rebuild. We can set this up for a price and dial it in to sew your hats and your sweat bands but it will work for you right out of the box. We can supply this with motor and table working with your hats if you wish to afford this. No reasonable offer will be refused. This machine will sell~! We have two more of the Singer 107-1 machines left in addition to this one. The other two are complete with out custom guide and can be offered with motor and table or head only. They will fetch a fair amount more than this one that has no guide installed and with a make shift dust cover. We have not shown here one more Singer 107-1 that has been rebuilt to mint less cosmetics and will offer it by auction as well. We do not have photos of it yet as it is at the mechanics still but is completed now. It will come with guide and ready to install or we can dial it in for your hats and your sweats if you wish us to. Can add motor and table. We also have the Gladhatter 107-1 branded Sweat band machine you will see in our other auctio

5 Schmetz Needles for Willcox Gibbs Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Size 100/16 or 4
Schmetz discontinued manufacturing needles that fit the Willcox& Gibbs chain stitch sewing machine. These Schmetz needles have the groove all the way up the shaft as required for the machine to slide over the pin in the needle bar. It will fit the older glass tension machine. The automatic and the later electric chain stitch machines. Mirror smooth Schmetz needles glide through fabric and are superior to the original Willcox& Gibbs needles with a dull finish that does not penetrate all fabrics smoothly. Over the years I have used both original and Schmetz needles in my Willcox& Gibbs machines and discovered the problem of using dull finish needles. Especially on some fabrics and layers. The old original needles were not made smooth and shiny enough, these are the best. This is for 5 needles Size 100/16 which is the same as the ... moreWillcox& Gibbs size 4 needle. I use needles on my chain stitch machine for a long time until they start plunking in the fabric. Then I know they are dull. I do save them in an old film container, some day someone else may want to sharpen them.

Antique Singer Chain Stitch Sewing Machine: Model 24 Treadle with Cabinet 1900
Antique Singer Chain Stitch Sewing Machine: Model 24 Treadle with Beautiful Cabinet Based upon the ISMACS Singer Sewing Machine Database. This machine with Serial Number N496866, is a Model 24 that was allotted to 2500 machines on October 5, 1900. From my research I believe this is most likely to be a Model 24-1: The Decal Pattern is'floral' also called'small flowers' and/or'decal pattern#19' The Cloth Plate is'silver' the Tension is'manual' The operation is'treadle' and The Spool Pin is'right back' Most of the decals are in Excellent shape. The Cloth Plate is good. Not perfect, but good. It has some loss, scratches and wear. Not rusty. This machine is well over 100 years old and still sews very nicely. The photo shows the machine going from a long stitch to a shorter one. Please excuse ... morethe operator for he is a rank novice. The cabinet has 6 drawers with beautiful wooden design applied in near perfect condition. The cast iron portion of the cabinet has virtually no rust. As you can see in the photos of the cabinet: The veneer is coming off of the top boards and needs work. Some of the applied design in the center front has come off and needs some work. If you would like photos of anything else. Let me know and I will be glad to provide them. Smoke free home. Toy Miniature Chain Stitch Sewing Machine
Cute miniature antique chain stitch child's or salesman sample sewing machine. Top bar has a repair. But it is in working order-just add a needle. Serial number on throat plate says No. 224559. The irregular line and spacing of the numbers, combined with the difference in depth of stamping, tell me that the machine was hand-stamped one number at a time, and is therefore very, very old. It has a three-spoked crank wheel, original wooden handle, all original screws, springs, etc except for the screw on the throat plate. The original painting of wheat( leaf and floral pattern can still be seen on the front, and two sides of the base. It is all metal with a faux pawfoot base and ring for a clamp connection to a table. I believe it is German made, circa 1910. Happy bidding! No international. Please. b7g.RcmdId ViewItemDescV4,RlogId p4%60bo7%60jtb9%3Fuk.rp*0%3C3%3Eb7g-13dedef1099-0xf3-

WILLCOX & GIBBS CHAIN-STITCH SEWING MACHINE/attachments
I am the 4th generation in my family to have used this lovely chain-stitch sewing machine for beautiful. Fine sewing. It comes with numerous attachments, needles, foot pedal& user’s manual& more. Having done some research, some of which was contacting Wilcox& Gibbs, I found that based on the serial number of this machine, it is estimated to have been manufactured in approximately 1909. It was originally sold as a hand turned machine and the motor is believed to have been added at a later date. I was able to get a copy of the User Manual from Wilcox and Gibbs, as well as an article about it from the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. and a 10 page article on James A. Gibbs that appeared in the Virginia Cavalcade, all of which I will include. Condition: Used, but in very good condition for its age. Willcox & Gibbs Automatic Chain stitch Model 64 Sewing Machine w/all atchm, case
The Willcox& Gibbs Chainstitch Model# 64 Automatic sewing machine in uniquely preserved cosmetic and mechanical condition. One of the marvels of sewing mechanisms with ALL W& G attachments. The Wilcox& Gibbs model 64 chain stitch sewing machine“is the stable mate of many collections around the world” While in 1856 the four“heavyweights” Singer. Wheeler& Wilson,Grover& Baker and Howe Sewing Machine Companies were trying to solve the problems of patent litigation and did not have a time to address the issue of an average family’s financial limitations and they almost overlooked the market demand for affordable family sewing machine. In 1855 after James E. Gibbs saw a simple illustration of a Grover& Baker machine it triggered the new idea: The rotating hook on the main shaft could enter into the loop formed by the friction ... morefrom the treaded needle going up through the fabric. Elongate it and hold expanded while the feed dog moved the fabric until the needle at the next needle bar down stroke goes through the previously formed loop, getting drawn through it and therefore to form a chain. Then in 1856 after actually witnessing a Singer model# 1 machine in action(patent#8394) Gibbs has come to the obvious conclusion that the machine was too heavy. Complicated, cumbersome and way too expensive. He has decided to create a less-expensive and simple type of sewing machine. James Gibbs and Charles Willcox has obtained a few patents( major one# 17.427 on June 2, 1857) and patented the Automatic tension and feed improvements. A few more patents for the method of removing the twists in the thread that caused so many missed stitches on the early models and also a patent for noise reduction on the feed. After that they have formed“Willcox& Gibbs SMC” and the first commercial chain stitch sewing machine has been patented and produced in 1857 and became a great success immediately! The W& G Automatic Elastic Chain stitch Noiseless nickel plated sewing machine Model 64 was sold for a half price of co

Antique National Eldredge Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Head
This Antique National Eldredge Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Head has been gently restored. What does gently restored mean? The overall objective is to preserve as much as the old tool or item with its lifetime patina as possible without the use of power tools. Metal is typically initially cleaned using mineral oil. Or a weak solution of washing soda and water and if necessary brief electrolysis to remove and or convert rust to black oxide. Whichever method is best, a scotch brite plastic cleaning pad is used with water so the underlying metal is not damaged. A heat gun is immediately used to blow dry and eliminate moisture which is followed by a hand rubbed coat of mineral oil. After letting the oil“soak in” for a day or so, the item is wiped cleaned then hand rub in bees wax to seal it. A weak solution of oil soap and water is used to remove ... moregrime, old oils and dirt from wood which is air or blowed dry with a heat gun. This is followed by a hand rub of“feed and wax" Normally all other materials are simply wiped clean with a dry or slightly damp cloth as appropriate. If the situation requires it, a soft brass bristle brush or“0000” steel wool is used occasionally. A couple of items should be noted. The first is this gentle process may not remove all rust or dirt, etc, as there is always a balance of limiting restoration to not affect patina. The second is that tools and items are not conditioned for use such as sharpening, tightening or replacement of parts. This is left up to the judgement of the new owner as there is a large range of utilization of older tools. Lastly, the item may have residual oil left in the cleaning process. This can be wiped off but the item may benefit from an additional application of clear oil to further enhance and stabilize the item for extended life. This is a hobby with the enjoyment of knowing these items might last generations with care. Powered by The free listing tool. List your items fast and easy and manage your active items.

Antique NATIONAL / B. ELDREDGE Automatic Chain Stitch Sewing Machine - cir. 1890
Antique NATIONAL/ B. ELDREDGE Automatic Chain Stitch Sewing Machine- cir. 1890: Up for auction is beautiful Antique National Sewing Machine Company/ B. Eldredge Automatic Chain Stitch Sewing Machine. Nation merged with Eldredge in 1890 and this model displays both of the company's names- NATIONAL SEWING MACHINE COMPANY on the plate and B. ELDREDGE AUTOMATIC on the brass plate mounted on the base of the machine. I re-discovered this smaller sized cast iron sewing machine recently while out on one of my picking adventures here in New Hampshire and when I first saw the items I thought that it was a Willcox& Gibbs because of the almost identical size and design of the two early chain stitch models. This National/ Eldredge sewing machine is in its original(unrestored) condition. When I discovered this sewing machine. It was rather dusty ... morebut in otherwise very good condition. I've thoroughly dusted this machine using some light compressed air and I have wiped down the item using a clean, soft cloth to brighten up the metalwork but I have not taken apart the machine so there may be some additional detailing cleaning needed. It is obvious that this was a treasured item and one that has been gently used in times past. I have not found any physical damage to the sewing machine(cracks. Breaks or repairs) and the cast iron frame is in excellent condition. The only parts of the machine that have any pitting to it are the top of the tension knob and on the front and backside of the spool pin and these areas of'pitting' are extremely light but they are noticeable upon inspection so I wanted to make note of these spots. The needle bar and foot bar also have some light discoloration due to age but these bars are not rusted, pitted or corroded. When I manually turn the small wheel, the components of the machine operate cleanly, smoothly and as they should. The original black paint has retained a nice glossy shine to it and there are only very small areas of loss to the paint. The guilt decorative trim is clearly
1913 Singer Model 30 Hand Crank Sewing Machine Chain Stitch Hard to Find!
Singer Model 30 This is a Singer model 30 sewing machine which was made at the Kilbowie. Scotland factory in 1913, so this year is its 100th birthday. It is a hand crank chain stitch machine and is quite hard to find as 15500 or less were made, and 5000 of those were shipped to Japan. It is larger than the model 20 toy sewing machine. But the head is just slightly smaller than the model 24 chain stitch. It is less than 12" wide, about 10" to the top of the spool pin and about 7-1/4" deep. Before being packed for shipping it weighs a little over 11 pounds, or about the same as a featherweight. One of the things I think is interesting is that when the presser foot is lifted it rotates out of the way. Making it easy to see your needle and fabric. Didn't some of the toy sewing machines do that? I think it is complete. It even ... morehas a seam guide. I oiled it and it runs pretty nice. A little bit jerky, like sewing on a toy machine, but not bad. It made a surprisingly nice stitch but I had to skip the thread guide that is below the front tension, it made the thread way too tight, I went from the front tension directly to the left tension and the stitch was decent. I'm sure if you play with it you can get it all figured out. I have never seen a manual for this model, but it isn't too hard to see where the thread should go. When I took it apart to see the serial number there were remains of a red rubber gasket in between the two parts. I took the pieces off since they were crumbling. You can see some red in the photo. A new gasket of some sort would be helpful in preventing the machine from moving on the base. Silly, but it is only secured with one screw, what did they think would happen? Condition: There is some loss to the decals and some chips to the paint. Most are on the base. Some of the paint on the base is a little bumpy. I don't think it is rust, maybe the paint was applied poorly? Please enlarge the pictures above to see more detail. The stitch plate looks like it might have been rus

Guhl & Harbeck Vintage Original Express Hand Crank Sewing Machine Chain Stitch
Guhl& Harbeck Sewing Machine This is a vintage sewing machine made by Guhl& Harbeck of Hamburg. Germany. It is their Original Express model. It is a hand crank machine that sews a chain stitch but it is currently missing the hook that forms the stitch. There are also some broken teeth in the hand wheel gears. But the handwheel still goes around and the needle goes up and down ok, just a little noisier than it should. The paint is poor, all the gold trim has been worn off and some bare metal shows through the existing japan black. It is missing the spring and nut for the tension on the top of the machine. It has lovely paw feet and despite its flaws will look great in a sewing machine collection or on a shelf in your sewing room. On the stitchplate is the Guhl& Harbeck logo which is intertwined letters G& H and the words"Original ... moreMaschine" It was missing the needle. I put in a Wilcox& Gibbs needle, I am not sure it is correct, but it fits. The machine i s 11-1/2" wide. Almost 10" tall, and under 7-1/2" deep. Powered by The free listing tool. Rare Singer 1907 24-29 Two Needle Chain Stitch Ruffling Sewing Machine Head
If you collect unique sewing machines then here is a treat for you. Made in 1907. This two needle chain stitch machine was meant to be used in manufacturing. It uses 24 x 1 needles which are still available. You can with a simple adjustment change the ruffling from just barely to very close and tight. Included with the machine is a large hemmer with what appears to be a slot on the underside for elastic. Not sure about that so if you have questions please let me know. I have never used this hemmer. The machine is dirty in places and will need to be cleaned. The paint is in good condition for its age and the fact that it is an industrial machine. There are a few chips and the black is faded somewhat as is evidenced by the bright black in the area underneath the hemmer. It turns smoothly and the ruffling device works well. If you are familiar ... moreat all with old Singer 24 class machines you know that this one is special. Study the photos carefully. And again if you have questions I will respond. Antique Willcox & Gibbs Chain Stitch Sewing Machine W/Base and Bonnet 1902
This auction is for a wonderful old Willcox& Gibbs sewing machine with all the original parts and finish. According to the serial number. A 531954, the machine was manufactured between 1898 and 1903. The base has the original paint with the bronze accent still strongly visible. The paint on the sewing machine itself is good, considering this was the point of all activity and wear. The wood is good; there are no serious problems and only minor normal wear in the typical places. The machine functions but there is not a belt. The whole is equal to the sum of its parts. True for most things but apparently not for Willcox& Gibbs sewing machines. A comparable base alone often sells for well over $300; a comparable machine sells for over $250; and the wood and other components sell for over $100. However. It is well over 100 years old and ... moreI will not be the one to destroy it. A note on"pick up" 17555 is in Lancaster County. PA. I regularly travel the PA turnpike from Morgantown/Reading area west to New Stanton and on to Canonsburg in Washington County. It would be OK to make arrangements for pick up anywhere along that corridor. Payment is expected within three days of completion of the auction. Arrangements for pick up can be made before or afterward. Please ask any questions before bidding.

ANTIQUE/VICTORIAN WILLCOX AND GIBBS CHAIN STITCH SEWING MACHINE WORKING CONDITIO
AN AMAZING ANTIQUE/VICTORIAN WILLCOX AND GIBBS CHAIN STITCH SEWING MACHINE. BRASS BADGE ON BASE READS- WILLCOX AND GIBBS SEWING MACH. CO. NEW YORK. WILL SEW FROM 12-39 STITCHES TO THE INCH. TURN THE HANDLE AND ALL THE PARTS MOVE EFFORTLESSLY AND IS IN VERY GOOD CLEAN CONDITION. I HAVE THREADED UP AND TESTED IT SEWS BUT NEEDS THE FABRIC TO BE HELD FIRMLY AND EASED THROUGH SO I THINK NEEDS ATTENTION TO EITHER THE THREADING OR FEED DOGS. In 1855 James came across a picture. a woodcut) of a Grover& Baker machine in a newspaper. The Grover& Baker machine was being sold all across America and advertised regularly. He was transfixed by this new gadget that had the potential to change the world. Over the next few months in his spare time he tried to copy the construction of the machine working out how each piece must work. He did this with ... morehis carpentry tools, a penknife, chisel, a few farm tools and some wood and spare bits of metal. Because he had only seen the top half of the Grover& Baker sewing machine he had to imagine how the bottom would work. I first discovered that the needle was attached to the needle arm, and consequently could not pass entirely through the material, but must retreat through the same hole by which it had entered. From this I saw that it could not make a stitch similar to handwork, but must have some other mode of fastening the underside and, among other possible ideas of doing this, the chain stitch occurred to me. From this early attempt at a sewing machine his models went on to be one of the best-selling sewing machines of all time. The Willcox& Gibbs chain stitch machines are one of the most collected sewing machines of all time. I would think this sewing machine represents the finest piece of Victorian precision engineering in the sewing world-A GREAT ADDITION TO ANY COLLECTION AND A WONDERFUL PIECE TO DISPLAY. Union Special 43200 G Vintage Bull Dog Chain Stitch Hemming Sewing Machine
Up for auction is a notorious Union Special 43200G Hemming Machine. If you are looking at this machine. Then most likely you already know quite a bit about it, so I will not go into great detail regarding it's use other than it may be the most sought after piece of machinery for hemming the bottom legs of high end jeans. I do believe that this is a 2nd Gen Model that was painted black at sometime to look like the 1st Gen"Black" machines. So this would look fitting in a retail store that does custom hemming on high end denim. While it appears that most of the machine is all there I have not gotten a chance to have this serviced or adjusted. And as such it will be sold as is in"non-operating" condition. It does however turn over just fine, but I can tell the looper and needle bar are out of adjustment. All the main parts ... moreare included though including the folder, knee push, mounting plate and covers. Items that I assume may need to be addressed for a new owner would be the following: Full adjustment and timing of the machine, New Felt/Wool"wicks" for ensuring proper lubrication throughout the machine, New"Oil Cups" for holding oil in various parts of the machine(I think 4 will be needed) However if the machine is manually oiled and operated in a light manufacturing environment it may not be necessary to replace/install these. Misc screws and fasteners(mainly for attaching outer covers) A screw will need to be"easy outed" on the Needle Bar Guide Stud Plate(see in picture 6) for proper adjustments to be made as the screw head is broken/worn away This item is being sold as is. So there will be no returns accepted. So please let me know if you have any questions or require any further information before the auction ends.

Fischbein Bag Closer Chain Stitch Sewing Machine Seed Corn Dog Food Packaging
Hello. This auction is for a FISCHBEIN BAG CLOSER and counter balance. This seems to be a completely foreign object and concept to eBay for some reason. There are other bag closers for sale here. But I couldn't find any other Fischbein's, which used to be THE bag closer. They used to keep one of these on hand at the seed house for a back up when the main bag closer would break down, as I'm sure they still do all across the corn belt at seed houses everywhere. These are sweet little machines, and this one is no exception. It runs like, well, like a sewing machine! It is of course a single thread chain stitch, making the stitch like you find in a dog food bag, the kind that you can pull out by unthreading the last stitch and tugging on the end, unzipping the bag. I did find other bag closers(all made in China) here on eBay, but ... morewhat they failed to offer was the all important counter balance, which helps to support the machine while it's in use. While it is light weight(just under 12 pounds) you don't want to have to run it all day(or even half a day) without the counter balance. The one that comes with this machine works very well and has a feature that will hold the machine suspended all the way up when not in use, but still allow it's easy deployment without needing to pull down hard. This spring and cable device is designed well and works well. Also with this machine I include a package of needles, genuine Fischbein, with only a couple gone, so there are still over twenty needles in the pack, and you also get the spool of cotton string you see in the pictures. I have gone over the machine, oiled it, and sewed it off. It is working very nicely. I don't have a book for it, but it is a very straight forward machine, almost self explanitory. Keep it oiled, threaded like it is when you get it and avoid dropping it on the floor(which the counter balance also helps with) and you shouldn't have any trouble. Parts are still available for these fine functioning, made in the U.S.A. machines.

New England type chain stitch antique sewing machine, cast iron, wood stand,cr1863
New England type Antique chain stitch sewing machine.1863-1865 It is really hard to determine the manufacturer's name. The small. Hand-turned, sewing machines were manufactured by at least six companies and possibly more. The listed below Sewing machine companies has been producing the very similarly looking chain stitch machines based on Charles Raymond reciprocating hook patent of July 30 1861. This particular date is found on all machines later manufactured by the inventor himself by Nettleton& Raymond in Brattellboro VT(1859-1866) In 1858 Nettleton and Raymond had moved from Bristol. Connecticut. To Brattleboro. Vermont. Also in Brattleboro at this time were Thomas H. White and Samuel Barker. Who were manufacturing a small machine called the" Brattleboro" White left Vermont in 1862 and went to Orange Massachusetts where ... morein partnership with William Grout he also began to manufacture New England type machines. Those were basically the same as the Raymond machines. After a short time. Grout left the partnership with White and moved to Winchendon Mass, where he continued to make New England machines for about one more year. In 1865. J.G.Folsom of Winchendon Mass began manufacturing his Globe machine. There is no record that New England machines were manufactured after 1865. The names of those machines were"Common sense" Family" even such name as" Improved Common sense" in 1870. That machine is so similar to the New England machines in its feeding, threading, loop forming reciprocating hook mechanism and in general design that it is sometimes mistaken for the earlier New England machines. The"Improved Common Sense" was two inches larger than the England machines and appears that those 2" allowed to make a claim that"Common sense" actually get improved. Well. We could only wish that it would be working in the real life. The Empire Sewing machine Company(later Remington Empire SMC) in S.Somers NY also produced a machine of this particular style but
Singer Osann Class 24-52 chain stitch antique sewing machine, carry case, crc 1920
Singer Class 24-52 Chain stitch antique sewing machine This Singer class 24-52 Chain stitch sewing machine SN# G8251328 has been manufactured at Singer's Elizabethport NJ plant on August 5 1920. That was Singer's answer to the famous Willcox& Gibbs# 64 chain stitch machine that simply dominated the chain stitch sewing machine market since middle 1870th. The Singer Class 24 was the only example in the history of sewing machines that has been advertised in 4 entirely different categories- as the toy machine. Small travelling machine, family machine and industrial machine. And it has been used for the operations of stitching the silk ties and in manufacturing of hats a lot! The Singer SMC over the years had over 70 different(some very minor)variations of this Class 24 machine- from 24K-1 to 24-80. This machine is very simple in construction ... moreand practically silent in operation and has a single rotating looper similar to W& G# 64 that forms the stitch type invented by James E.A. Gibbs(patent on Aug 10 1858) when he was 24. It remains a question why this Singer model has been designated# 24 and short needles to be used with it as# 24-1. This particular machine has the small bronze plate attached to the front below the Singer badge- Rebuilt by Osann Corporation" the manufacturer of sewing machines in NYC. It is indeed makes it a fairly rear model- Osann Singer" and the badge most likely has been attached to machine's body in between 1934-1938. Here is a little necessary history in order to understand a relationship in between Osann and Singer SMC: The Standard SMC( Teller Mnf Co before 1884) has had the license from Frederick Osann SMC to produce"Sewhandy" TSM based on the patent# 1916.860 of R.K.Hoffmann. Who approached F.Osann SMC with the desire to begin a process of manufacturing the machine based on his patent. The Standard SMC assets has been taken over by major stockholder-Frederick Osann Co. Then. F.Osann Co has been sold out to Singer SMC in 1934. Singer has been keeping

Willcox & Gibbs Chain stitch Antique sewing machine Coalbrookdale type crank1899
Willcox& Gibbs Chainstitch Model# 64, Automatic sewing machine in uniquely preserved cosmetic condition.hand crank.Cast iron treadle, attachments, 1899. The Wilcox& Gibbs model 64 chain stitch sewing machine“is the stable mate of many a collections around the world” In 1856 the four“heavyweights” Singer. Wheeler& Wilson, Grover& Baker and Howe Sewing Machine Companies were trying to solve the problems of patent litigation and did not have a time to address the issue of an average family’s financial limitations and almost overlooked the market demand for affordable family sewing machine. In 1855 after James E.Gibbs saw a simple illustration of a Grover& Baker machine it triggered the new idea. The rotating hook on the main shaft could enter into the loop formed by the friction from the threaded needle going up through the ... morefabric. Elongate it and hold expanded while the feed dog moved the fabric until the needle at the next needle bar down stroke goes through the previously formed loop, getting drawn through it and therefore to form a chain. Then in 1856 after actually witnessing a Singer model# 1 machine in action Gibbs has come to the obvious conclusion that the machine was too heavy. Cumbersome, overly complicated and. too expensive. He has decided to create a less-expensive and simple type of sewing machine. James Gibbs and Charles Willcox has obtained a few patents( major one#17.427 on June 2,1857) and patented the Automatic tension and feed improvements. A few more patents for the method of removing the twists in thread that caused so many missed stitches on the early models and also a patent for noise reduction on the feed. After that they have formed“Willcox& Gibbs SMC” and the first commercial chain stitch sewing machine has been patented and produced in 1857 and became a great success immediately! It was the First sewing machine ever made with the completely interchangeable parts and units. This and the important fact that the manufacturer and design contributor has been Brown&
