If you are wanting a machine that will survive the zombie apocalypse this could be it. All metal construction. All metal gears, powerful 1 amp motor, finely crafted in Italy. I didn't even really know what I was doing but I was able to make some nice stitches right off the bat. Stitched through a single thick layer of suede with no problem, and it punched through two layers of thick suede easily as well(though my thin thread broke during the two layer test) You should have no problem doing light leather, sailcloth, upholstery, etc with this machine. It is in very nice cosmetic condition as well as you can see in the pics, a bit of minor paint chipping along a couple edges. The carry ... morecase is not original and was modified to fit this machine. it does not have a hold down tab, though this machine is so heavy it's almost not even necessary. Comes with what you need to get going, bobbin holder, bobbin, pedal, one cam; does not come with any extra accessories but those are easily found here on ebay. Vintage Bel-Air Bantam Heavy Duty Cast Sewing Machine
This is a vintage late 40's. Early 50's Bel-Air Bantam sewing machine. It is in great condition. It is heavy-duty cast aluminum, with a big heavy-duty Westinghouse 1.5 amp motor. Motor made in U.S.A. Housing made in Japan. The beautiful black housing has stylized"art deco" inlay, none missing. Shiny aluminum, or chrome front is also art deco design. It has the gold medallion, chrome shielded light, and black foot pedal. This baby can do anything an old Singer can. In fact it was built to Singer specs to compete with Singer! All that is needed is a minor cleaning and adjustments for enough power to go through heavy denim and probably leather too!

It was made at the very end of the cast iron era and is in excellent running order and has been oiled. Heavy Duty Singer 253-2 serial no. AK 566530. Industrial sewing machine! I just recently took this machine out of a factory that closed down a few years back and the machine were powered by 3 phase power so I had no way to test them out. It looks like it is in very good condition and turning the wheel manualy, everything works as it is suppose to, needle works freely and bobbin area turns. No cracks or damage that i can see.
