Up for your consideration is a unique Weaver Motor Service Press. This is a light pressure arbor press. For use in service stations, that was designed to perform multiple tasks. It was used to fit connecting rod assemblies, measure, clean and re-ring pistons, and for re-lining, brakes and clutches. On the top is a flat surface that was used in conjunction with a micrometer to check pistons for roundness. The ram can be screwed out to increase the pressure up to 5 tons. The press has a 6 1/2" throat, 10" vertical capacity over the plate, is mounted to its original stand, and swivels 360 degrees. It comes with a catch cup, partitioned bowl, one 2.250, No. 40 rod aligning arbor, and two plates, which are not original. It is in very good condition and functions as it should. The clutch engages the motor and the pulley wheel spins and it brakes when you release the clutch. The motor continually runs while the clutch brake is disengaged. The switch box turns the motor on and off. The aluminum pulley has a sticker on it that says made in Taiwan. This may indicate it's age although I don't know how long Taiwan has manufactured things for the US. The cord is in excellent shape. The motor with box and cord weighs nearly 49lbs unpackaged. Factory Booklet Merkel Motorwheel motor wheel pre-Hendee-Indian model with clutch. 16 pages about 1919. I use priority mail. I also have my Motor wheel on ebay search merkel. Joseph Merkel founded the Merkel Motor Company in Milwaukee. Wisconsin in 1902, its first product being a bicycle powered by a'clip on' engine attached to the front down tube. In 1908 Merkel merged with the Light Manufacturing and Foundry Company of Pottstown, Pennsylvania, which had been making motorcycles since 1901. Merkel production shifted to Pottstown and the range- marketed as'Merkel-Light' expanded to include chain-driven types and v-twins. The move to Pottstown signaled a serious commitment to racing and the hiring of factory supported riders, while the slogan'Flying Merkel' began to appear in the company's advertising.
