Vintage Small Oval A.P. Critchlow Union Case w. Tintype of a Woman. Measures 2" x 1 3/4" The title of the case is" Children at the Well" The interior of the case has had the advertising torn off probably to accommodate a hand written paper instead which says"Sib Remember George May 18 1867( Keiths" The tintype is of a woman wearing earrings tinted gold. the paper fits in the case but the tintype doesn't fit correctly and the preserver needs to be adjusted a little smaller. Antique Civil War Uniform Soldier Daguerreotype with Gutta Percha/ Union( Case This auction is for an antique daguerreotype of a civil war soldier. The picture is of a soldier in a civil war uniform. The velvet panel next to the picture is in good condition for its age with minimal wear. The hinges are intact but are covered by the backing on the case so are not visible. The lock on the case is also intact and works easily. There is some age wear to the outside of the case. It looks like the type of surface rubs it would get from being carried. The case is approximately 3” tall and 2 1/2” wide. I have heard the case referred to as a Gutta Percha or Union case but I am not knowledgeable about this material so cannot guarantee that. I have taken pictures from different angles so you should be able to enlarge them and see this wonderful antique ... morein detail. It has been displayed in a non-smoking home for many years. The Case is from the AP Critchlow Company. It is a Union Case(after 1856) with what is called a“Scroll” design– it measures 3 ½” x 3 ⅞” and is 1” thick. The Daguerreotypes, which do have hand tinting done to them, measure 2 ¾” x 3 ¼” everything in this set appears all original. If I had to say I found something wrong with this it would be there is a short rough spot on one of the edges of the case that you can feel but not really see. Antique Daguerreotype Ambrotype Oval Union Case Urn w/ Flowers
Wish that I knew more about this sort of thing. But I don't. Please look at the photos and use your own judgement. The case features an urn of flowers on both sides. The clasp is tight, and both hinge and clasp are in good working order. The photo has crackling. I think it's a tintype, but can't say for sure. Looks like there would have been a second photo originally, but that side is empty. What I really like is the case! The detail is really nice. The case measures some 2 1/8 inches by 1 7/8 inches. Antique 1/16 Plate DAGUERREOTYPE Thermoplastic Union Case Young Girl Tint Photo
For your consideration is this original 19th Century DAGUERREOTYPE in its original case. The piece is circa 1840-1847 and is in fantastic. Antique, uncleaned condition. The photo is a 1/16th plate and depicts a sweet picture of a young girl that has tinted cheeks with curled hair(sausage curls) lace collared dress jacket and dress, and accented by a flower brooch. It is in its original ornate Gutta Thermoplastic Union case. The case features scroll and floral border designs, velvet lined panel, and one small clasp. A fantastic early peice with only signs of age to be noted including the usual signs to velvet in side panel and separation of the binding. This is a very easy, inexpensive fix to have done or to do yourself. The image under the glass measures 1 3/8's inch, by 1 5/8ths inch. Daguerreotype Union Case. 1/9 plate with brass mat, protector and glass. The mat and the pillow in very good condition. There is a chip at the clasp but the opens and closes really good. The hinges seem to be tight and I don't see any cracks and I looked really good. Don't see any bad chips on the corners. Basically it is in very good condition for it's age. The photo is of a small child and the mother is standing behind her, I think. Nice photo. The color is black and the ornate design is the same back and front. Please ask questions before bidding. This is a flat mounted stereoview by Union View Co. that is titled"3109. WHITE PELICANS. We acquired this view with a large collection of Florida views. It may or may not be from the Florida Everglades. Here's some info found on the"net" American White Pelicans nest in colonies of several hundred pairs on islands in remote brackish and freshwater lakes of inland North America. The most northerly nesting colony can be found on islands in the rapids of the Slave River between Fort Fitzgerald. Alberta, and Fort Smith, Northwest Territories. About 10-20% of the population uses Gunnison Island in the Great Basin's Great Salt Lake as a nesting ground. The southernmost colonies are in southwestern Ontario and northeastern California. Nesting colonies exist as far south as Albany County in southern Wyoming. They winter on the ... morePacific and Gulf of Mexico coasts from central California and Florida south to Panama. And along the Mississippi River at least as far north as St. Louis, Missouri. In winter quarters, they are rarely found on the open seashore, preferring estuaries and lakes. The image of this handsome man with sleepy eyes and lightly tinted cheeks is housed in a thermoplastic case. He wearing a silk vest and a tie around his stiff stand up collar. The thermoplastic case(2.5" X 3" has been designed with a central cross motif framed with"C" and"S" border. It is missing the velvet pad and the top hinge is loose from the lid. Here are Union Tintype Cases w/ Tintype Photos including Eagle Patriotic Case- Lot of 5. 4 of and are 1/9th plate and 1 is 1/6th plate. The 1/6 plate is a half plate and 3 of the 1/9 plates are half case and the other is a full case. One of the half cases is an Eagle Case with the Eagle holding a shield or that is a flag with stars. The full case is a woman and I cannot tell very well but it looks like her hair is in tiny braids or she is wearing something in her hair. The others are as follows: Woman with small child(toddler) Woman sitting in a chair, Young girl(maybe teenager or young woman) sitting in a chair The other one is of 2 pretty women sitting side by side and the photo is a horizontal tintype photo. The full case with woman sitting in the chair is a Melainotype Neff Patent 1856 Photo(it is stamped at the top of the photograph) ... moreThe condition of the cases are that they are very old and they have quite a bit of wear to them.
