Consist signs from Chicago Union Station departure boards
Two steel attachments made to be attached to the train consist boards at the departure gates in Chicago Union Station. Boards showed the consist of the train on the day of departure and these two are from the Milwaukee Road and are for the Cities trains. One reads dome diner and the other is for a slumber coach. Both are steel painted and are in very good condition. The dome diner is 5 1/2 inches wide and 2 1/2 inches high and the slumber coach sign is 5 1/4 inches wide and 2 1/4 inches high. There is a lip on the back which was inserted into the board. The Milwaukee/Union Pacific tried running slumber coaches on the City of Denver for one season using two 21 roomette cars operated by Pullman and coming from the Pennsylvania Raillroad. Lot of FOUR Union Pacific Calendars Centennial 1969! Large Size-Great Pictures!
For sale in this auction are four Union Pacific Railroad Centennial calendars commemorating the time from 1869 to 1969. Each calendar contains the entire year of 1969 by months January through December and each month has its own picture image. Additionally there is a page for December 1968 and a separate page containing all 12 months of 1969 on one page and another page containing all months for 1970. The calendars measure approximately 19" x 24" They are all in really good shape considering their age. Although there is a bit of wear here and there. They are not perfect, but they are nice and there is only a bit of folded corners or markings or a tiny tear here and there. The images themselves included with each month are really nice and could be framed. I tried to take a variety of pictures showing the various images. These calendars ... morehave originally been stored folded in half, although there is not a definite crease, there is a little bit of a bend. I will mail them folded over loosely as they have been stored unless the buyer would like them mailed completely flat. 1988 Union Pacific System calendar. 12.5" x 23" in size. Beautiful Union Pacific color photos showing points of interest around the United States. Great item for the railroad memorabilia collector. It has a bend on the lower right hand corner on the front page and a slight crease on the lower left corner from rolling it for storage. Long Employee Timetable from Union Station in K.C. Missouri. Effective April 26, 1964. 6-1/4" x 19-1/2" on green paper(photos from my low end camera look blue-ish, but the true color is a light green) I came across some of these railroad items in an estate lot I bought for other vintage items in it. This one fell out of an old book, and I'm hoping to unite these with collector rather than carting off to goodwill. 1923 & 1924 Radical Union Journal, Railway Maintenance of Way Employees. Lenin.
Two Radical Union Journals. RAILWAY MAINTENANCE OF WAY EMPLOYES JOURNAL: 1) July 1923. About 7x9" 62 pages, several black& white photos. This must have been a fairly radical union. There are admiring photos of Russian workers and Lenin, who is described as"one of the most outstanding men since Napoleon. There is a lot more politics, plus lodge notes from around the country, photos of 100% union work crews, several pages of ads including a couple of railroad watch ads, etc. The journal is tight, complete and unmarked, but shows moderate soil including several damp stains, mainly on the covers and first few pages front and back. Most interior pages are clean, and all are readable. The journal has been folded vertically. There is some roughness along the spine and corner creases on the front cover. I noticed one small photo inside ... morewith a white area printing imperfection. 2) May 1924. Similar size and general content to preceding, several pages of ads including several ads for inexpensive pistols, etc. The journal is tight, complete and unmarked, but shows moderate soil including foxing& damp stains, mainly on the front cover. Most interior pages are clean, and all are readable. The journal has been folded vertically. On both items, the scans are the best guide to condition. I accept returns only if an item is misdescribed in some material way. I mainly sell older. Collectible items. They can be expected to have minor soil& wear incident to their age. THREE Menus UPRR City of Los Angeles + Coffee Shop Union Pacific Railroad 1971
Here are THREE extremely nice menus from the Union Pacific Railroad. TWO dated 1971 are from the name train CITY OF LOS ANGELES. Each is 7 inches wide x 8-1/2 inches tall(8-1/2 x 14 folded in half) They are printed on sturdy ivory color card stock with a nice textured surface and color photographs of California attractions. NOTE the pictures attractively wrap around onto the back covers! One cover photo is" WORLD-FAMOUS DISNEYLAND. ANAHEIM, CALIFORNIA" and the other is" GREAT WHITE THRONE AND ANGELS LANDING FROM TEMPLE OF SINAWAVA. ZION NATIONAL PARK" CONDITION is extremely nice- BOTH are beautifully bright and clean with NO rips or tears. NO stains. NO creases or folds. The only fault we can find is light bumps on the corner points. The THIRD dated 1970 is titled COFFEE SHOP SERVICE. It is a single sheet 7 inches wide ... morex 11 inches high. On one side is a pretty painting of a railroad station and steamboat landing amid tall mountains. We're guessing it's in Oregon because a tiny station sign reads CASCADE. This is printed on sturdy ivory color card stock with a nice textured surface matching the two fold-over menus above. CONDITION is extremely nice- beautifully bright and clean with NO rips. NO tears and NO stains. This has NOT been folded. There is the very lightest crease across the very top and also on the very bottom right corner(all will likely press out with an iron) The corners are very lightly bumped and there is very light side edge bumping.
