I personally have had all three of the Elites, Featherweight 221, 301A and 15-91 and this is the toughest of the group. This machine is solid and runs like an industrial grade sewing machine. You can see from the pictures it sewed through 2 pieces of softer apparel type leather and a piece of apparel leather to another belt grade leather. 1/4" thick total, with an ordinary denim. The motor has been disassembled and cleaned along with the carbon brushes and the commutator. All new wiring. Worm gear has been lubricated and ... moreall points have been oiled. No where on the machine does it say Select-O-Matic. But from doing some research on Brother sewing machines, I believe that is what this one is called. This is a very heavy machine with a powerful 1.0 amp motor. Very smooth running and quiet. There were no instructions with this machine other than a handwritten paper of some notes that the previous owner made. That factory was established in 1903 and started production of sewing machines in 1904. After 1939 sewing machine's production was limited when most of the factory manufacturing capacity was allocated to Third Reich's military production during WWII. By the end of WWII town of Wittenberge was not fortunate enough to find itself in the Eastern section of Germany under Russian control. In June 1946 the Singer president Douglas Alexander has made the announcement that all production equipment has been removed from Wittenberge factory ... moreand taken to Russia as War reparations. This is one great sewing machine in its original Singer walnut cabinet with matching storage stool- all in excellent vintage condition. It runs well and looks amazing. I have owned this machine as part of a collection of sewing machines for many years. It has also been one I sometimes sew on. So it has been kept clean and oiled. It will sew silk to denim fabrics. Canvas and even leather(not on saddles or such) as long as appropriate needles and tension are used. This Singer Model 66 with its somewhat rare Crinkle finish has a manufacture date of August 25. 1947(serial#AH231781) It comes with: original Singer Crinkle foot pedal to match the machine(not all Singer Crinkle machines have the matching foot pedal) 7 bobbins The motor is strong. The cabinet opens with ¾ left and ¼ right top pieces and a swing arm automatically comes out to support the left side. The inside front lifts up when you lower or raise the machine to and from its storage compartment. The stool has a lift out seat for inside storage. The seat was reupholstered about 2 years ago. It is very easy to change out the fabric on the seat. Support arm functions as it should. Hinges are in great condition. Please READ the entire Description. Sews easy through through 4 layers of heavy marine vinyl, and a 1/8” thick leather belt both using commercial upholstery nylon thread TEX 70 B69- AND ZIG-ZAG STITCHING TOO! Although I don't think it can sew holsters, shoes or saddles, it can sew some thick stuff& should be good for any garment, quilt, boat cover or upholstery job.
