1989 Thermwood Cartesian 5 3 axis router control cabinet. Complete. This unit was removed from functional service approx. 60 days ago to retrofit the machine with a different industrial controller. The machine was running without errors prior to removal and there is no reason it shouldn't turn right back on when hooked into another Thermwood machine. This particular unit has 3 axis of servo control, complete comm boards, programming pendant, etc. Nothing has been removed or altered since it was pulled from service. All of the machine leads were removed at the control via the terminal blocks. No wiring was cut. Also included in this auction is a complete Cartesian 5 factory manual including electrical schematics, programming guides, etc. The cabinet has an A/C unit which doesn't appear to be functioning at the moment. 3-axis CNC router/plasma cutting machine - custom built
I built this as a hobby project. I wanted the machine to be able to do 3D wood. Light 3D metal, and 2D metal plasma cutting. I accomplished those goals, except I don't have a water table for the plasma cutter which could be added if someone wanted to do that. It has a cutting area of 28 x 40. I have made very nice wooden signs with it as well as some metal parts for my car and I just started playing around with the plasma cutting features. The plasma cutter is a Thermal Dynamics and has a sever cut rating of up to 3/4" in mild steel. The plasma cutter itself has only been used around 40 hours. It is very heavy and weighs about 1500 pounds or so. It has travels of about 150IPM. It is fairly accurate based on my measuring tools. If I make a circle that is 10" in diameter it will come out at 10.000 inches with about a plus or minus.004" ... moredeviation. The control electronics are CandCNC and it has Keling stepper motors and drivers. This will come with a desktop computer, keyboard, mouse and monitor with a licensed copy of MACH3 for the controller software. Remember this is a hobby machine and while you may be able to make money with it you really need to look at this as a machine that you will tinker with and learn on. If it doesn't sell during this listing then I will just part everything out but, I hate to do that since I spent so much time building this machine. It also comes with a very nice fog buster misting system for doing metal work. It requires 2 220V 30A circuits to run it. If you want to run the plasma cutter you will need to have your own air compressor. The air compressor air should be dry and free of oil for best results. PLEASE READ BELOW* I will NOT crate this or otherwise ship it via freight. I am willing to explain where to get a special trailer to move this that costs about 100 per day to rent from a local rental company. I will help with loading it up on that trailer but. Quick Circuit 7000 Easy CNC Router Project with Z-axis!
I have had this wonderful machine for alittle while. And due to a lose of time, I can't finish it and giveit the attention this awesome project deserves! I got this machine from a friend. Whogot it from his job, a large electrics manufacturer, where thismachine was used, but never abused. It was regularly maintained andthe linear bearings and lead screws where replaced a couple yearsago. The reason I was so excited about thismachine is the first thing you will notice about the machine is howhefty. Sturdy and well made it is, the machine weighs a little over60 pounds. This machine, when new, was over $15,000, and it shows!The bed is 25x16 inches. I never had the opportunity to fire up themachine, so I never tested the motors because I intended to replacethe motors with new motors, but the motors will most likely work. They also come with ... morelittle hand-wheels. There is virtually no ruston this machine, and everything is smooth and runs freely. I used my CNC taig mill to make aZ-axis to go this this. And it is included with this auction, thetravel is 5.5 inches, and there is some rust/discoloration on it. But everything is smooth on the Z-axis. There is a bit of adjustingthat needs to be done one the Z-axis, the belt rubs the one motormount, but all the major work is done. And the stepper motor will bemore than powerful enough for this. The z-axis uses a manufacturedsmall router mount, is should hold a delta router nicely. There is one piece missing. It is thepiece that connects the linear bearing block to the lead screw, it'sa pieces of aluminum about 4 inches by 3/8 inches. You'll need tomake something in order to attach the Z-axis. The spindle motor and solenoid thatcame with the machine probably work. But they are untested, Icarefully cut the wires, so you can use the 5 wires I freed up tosomething else in the wiring harness. Here is a very high end 4 axis former laser inspection machine that would make a ultra-precision baby cnc router or engraver. Or for that matter, any application requiring xyz movement along with a large rotary table, complete with motors and encoders. Unit is mounted on a very heavy(200 lbs? granite table, 19" x 15" x 3" with a aluminum/granite arm for the z axis. Movement is 8.5" for x and y and 1.5" for z. Pitch of the screws is 10 for x and y and about 50 for the z, thus having very high accuracy. Rotary table dia is 8.5" and all are powered by Vexta frame 23 steppers with.09* step. Encoders are Renshaw. Unit mfg was New England Affiliated Technologies. Z axis mounting plate is 3" x 5" The rotary table is removable by 4 screws, the stainless vacuum top is removable by 4 screws also and has vacuum ... morefittings. Hi this is a custom made cnc z axis for large platform cnc router or mill? I got this for my diy cnc project.But its too advanced for a first time build. It is 15-7/8 long total length has custom machined mount for the water cooled spindle. It comes with a 23" lead or ballscrew I dont know the manufacture for the lead or the spindle the linear rails and the bearings are Hiwinn, there are 3 bearing covers that I have no Idea what the purpose of them is? 1 is missing they are machined well however. I purchased this here on ebay the spindle alone had a retail of 299.00 at least that was the word from the seller, everything he told has been very accurate and has answered all my questions after the fact 100 percent feedback too, so here you go get this for a great price today! sold as is for finishing! 4 axis CNC Tabletop Milling Machine calibrated
I used this machine for about 100 to 200 hours. Changed the timing belt pulleys for a better aluminum ones and it worked like a charm! I also calibrated it to perform to it's maximum mechanical resolution of 0.002" This little machine packs a lot of punch! Has one brand new stepper motor, the others are working great! I also changed the brushes in the spindle, so they are good for another 200+ hours I have used it for programs that take 11 hours with no problem. With proper use and care can last a long time. This is a great machine for entry level CNC machinist and prototyping. Great for inventors. I have used it on wood, aluminum, steel and plastics. It is relatively new and has many hours left. If you use it as a CNC machine you will need to add a power supply. Spindle(such as a dremel) and stepper motor drivers. Easel(dot)com is a great free website that can be used to design and make projects that can be used by this machine. It's in great shape! It can be used to carve wood.
