This is a D1-RA model with serial number 22368. The badge indicates that it rotates at 50.000rpm and that at 100psi it only needs 6cfm to operate. It is used but in fully working condition. Restored Ekstrom Carlson 156 Overhead Pin Router
I bought this router a few years ago from a fellow out east that did a complete restoration of it. Upon completing the rebuild he realized he didn't have use for it so I bought it. When I got it I put it into storage at my cousin's place(near Watertown. Minnesota) because I didn't have room in my shop for it. Well a few years have passed and I still don't have room and my cousin would like to have the space back so I will need to pass it along to someone that can use it. It was completely rebuilt including bearings. The motor is a 3hp(if memory serves) and is 3phase. Could be run off of single phase with a vfd or rotary phase converter) The router has one guide pin with it but other pins would be easily made! C. R. Onsrud 24210 Inverted Pin Router Lower starting price!
Up for sale in this auction is my C.R. Onsrud Model 24210 Inverted Pin Router. I have been the owner and user of this machine for the last couple of years so hopefully I can answer any questions? This is a 10hp three-phase machine and it does have the electric motor brake. Which will slow it down to a stop much faster than with no brake, but not"instantly" or anything like that. This has a 1/2" collet in it now and that is all I have needed, I have used a 1/2" to 1/4" collet adapter when needed with no problem, but C.R. Onsrud has any collet you could need. This is an incredible machine that makes so many otherwise extremely difficult operations very easy. There are several videos on youtube as well as at the C.R. Onsrud website that will demonstrate this much better than what I could describe here. This is basically ... morethe"big" machine(the 36210) but with a 24" throat rather than the 36" throat. They talk quite a lot in their videos about the great dust extraction of these machines and I can confirm that to be the truth and I was amazed at how fast and smooth my routing operations were as well as how that dramatically increased my cutter life. The plunging cutter and retracting guide pin make so many operations quick and easy. I actually used this beast of a machine with a keyhole bit and a template to make hang holes in the back sides of a huge order of plaques a couple of years ago. Once you grasp the concept of making your jigs it is very easy to do many. Many things with this machine and it has the power for about anything you could need to do. Condition of machine. I have never ran the machine 24 hrs a day. Day after day but I have ran it several hours at a time, many times and would always keep an eye on the spindle temp with a"point at it" type thermometer and everything always stayed nice and cool and quiet. Mechanically everything seems to be great, as far as"looks" go, it could probably be prettier but I was much more concerned with function

You are considering an Onsrud. Overarm Pin Router. This machine is used and is in fair overall condition. We have run this machine here and it seems to run out fine. The start/ stop buttons, motor starter and 2-speed switch all work as they should. We did not receive any guide pins, collets or router bits with this machine, so it has not been tested under working conditions. Machine is being sold AS IS. This is an older. Heavy built machine. The body shows normal wear, scratches, etc from normal use. The table has some mild to moderate surface rust starting to form on it from sitting unused in a non-climate controlled warehouse. Large Wadkin patternmakers compound pin router Overhead shaper
This is a beautiful example of a well made piece of equipment. Wadkin stuff is fantastically overbuilt. I have always been impressed with old American built production woodworking equipment, that is until the first time I saw a piece of Wadkin equipment. It's kind of like the Rolls Royce of tools. Way overbuilt yet it was still made with incredible attention to detail(actually made in England) This router probably weighs close to 5000 pounds with the phase changer. The phase changer is essentially 2 electric motors that are linked together. The drive motor runs on 440 volt 60 cycle 3 phase power. The driven motor is essentially a generator, it produces 220 volt 3 phase power at 180 cycles, and 320? cycles depending on what speed you want the router to run. That generated power runs the third motor that's in the head of the machine, ... moreif I remember correctly the 2 rpm settings are 18,000 and 22,000 I could be off a little on that rpm range, I have the factory book that gives all of the specs, but I'm having a hard time finding it, I will locate it if anyone is interested in the router. I was planning on running the router on a 3 Hp inverter. That would give the router a variable speed range from single phase power, without the 600 pound frequency changer that goes in the base of the router. This machine has a two direction compound table. That's an unusual option for a pin router. I can deliver this machine to the Portland Or. area.
