RL Winston 8'6'' 4 1/2 oz SF Build Bamboo (Cane) Fly Rod 2/2
I am selling my Merrick era Winston rod serial number is 9471. This rod was completed 10/27/67 in the San Francisco shop. Rod is in good condition with the butt section having a couple of repair wraps. I have had two individuals. One rod maker and one appraiser look at the wraps and they were unable to determine why the wraps were placed. The tips also have a minor sets. The tip section has a groove that has formed in the tip top. I have included photos to show this. The rod builder I had mentioned above said this groove although noticeable, was not something to worry about. Now, the second tip section is for another Winston rod. The second rod tip has serial number 1684-1 which is a rod built by Glenn Brackett in Montana that was completed in 1977. This tip is just a little lighter than the 9471 which leads me to believe it was made for ... morea 4 1/4 oz rod and casts wonderfully. This tip section has no damage. And the tube, it has traveled the world. The rod sock has some dirt stains, no tears. I am selling the rod because I will most likely hardly ever fish it. It is fun to cast and punches a DT6 into the wind with authority. I have lighter cane rods that I fish on a regular basis. This is a very well made rod with many many years of life left in it. Factory Custom RL Winston BIIX 9'0' 5wt
Up for auction is a used Winston Boron IIx 4 piece rod complete with factory sock and rod tube. The rod tube was never used and is in excellent condition. After I bought the rod I sent it back to Winston to have them put a larger custom cigar grip and they also replace the orginal eyes and tip that were well know for the noise they made as the line ran through them. I also had a professionally installed spalted hickory spacer installed using the original black hardware that came with the graphite reel seat. Rod was well taken care of and not used that often as I live about 6 hours from the closest decent trout stream. If you have any questions please feel free to ask. You are looking at/bidding on a one owner Winston Spey rod serial#53116. These rods are the choice of serious steelhead and salmon anglers. These rods offer power, responsiveness and accuracy. They are one of the lightest spey rods on the market and are a joy to cast and to fight fish with. Has the ability to handle a large variety of fishing conditions, lines, and flies. If you can only own one two-handed rod I would seriously recommend this one. The 14’ 9-weight Spey rods ... morewere made from the LT graphite composite and produced during the 1996/2000 timeframe. In 1996. The LT Spey product line consisted of the 13’ 8-weight and the 15’ 10-weight rods. In 1997, the 14’ 9-weight rod was added and in 1998, the 12’ 7-weight rod was added. This LT9 Spey has a sleeve overfit ferrule. A maple and anodized reel seat, HW handle, and weighs 8 3/4oz, which is among the lightest of 9 weight spey rods of all makes. Item is in great condition. Like a new rod and looks to me to have never seen water(and I have sold over 2000 used rods) ferrules virtually zero wear, rod very little wear, handle is not discolored or pitted or marked. Wraps/guides are in like new shape, blank is free of scratches and blems. This is a used fly rod my dad used for trout fishing all over. I don't know the# of ounces. But it says(see pictures) 8-1/2' 7. It comes with the"Winston" sock and"Winston" aluminum tube. The eyelet next to the cork handle for fixing the fly has broken off, but in fine shape otherwise.

The rod weight is indicated at 2 5/8 ounces. Where the rest of the information about the rod is written, this rod also has the word Guide.
