Skip Morris Silvertrim 7wt Graphite 4 Piece Flyrod
This auction if for a used. In good condition, Skip Morris 7wt graphite flyrod. I order this rod from Mr. Morris on 12/4/86 and received it in January 1987. The rod was built from Morris's blanks with oversize ferrules and is the Silvertrim model. The rod markings are: Skip Morris Silvertrim created for Tony Frascarelli, 9' 6-7-8 4-piece and serial number. Cost back then for this rod was $318. I fished this rod extensively in 1987-88 and maybe a dozen times since then. Rod has a screw uplocking reel seat with a wood insert, walnut I think. There are the unusual rubs, etc. that you would normally fine on a well used rod. Rod comes in a cloth bag and in an aluminum tube. Up for auction is a recent estate find = a Thomas& Thomas Horizon series saltwater fly rod Model HS 909S-4 in 9 foot for a 9 weight line. The rod comes in the original sock and aluminum T&T Tube( as pictured) This is a fast action salt water rod with uplocking black anodized reel seat and a deep cobalt blue graphite blank. Each of the 4 sections is marked with the serial number 27-247. The rod is in almost mint condition and was very lightly used if at all. This is a powerful saltwater rod that is rated for a 9 weight forward line but will easily handle a 10 weight line too( I tried both on the rod) It has a full Wells cork grip( clean) and a 1 1/2" long cork fighting butt( also very clean) See all of the pictures as I tried to capture every section of the rod plus grip. It has been in the attic a long time, all four sections are the same length, the handle and 2 tips are in excellent condition, the first section is missing 2 eyelets, easy fix.It has very beautiful thread work, see the pictures, it has a name written on it, it was a X-Mas gift in 1933, it has the original pouch that all 4 pieces fit in. The rod is in amazing shape. It is a 4 piece setup(2 tips) It also comes with the case and sock. Case is missing the screw on top. The dimensions and writing on each rod section is: The bottom piece where the reel would go measures a total of 32 1/4' To measurement from the end of the cord to the end of this section measures 21 1/2. The writing on this section says"1313 Custom Made. Leonard Mill, 8' 4" The middle section of the rod measures 32' and has the writing"1313" on it. Two tip sections of the rod measure 32 1/2' and have the writing"1313" on ... morethem. The tackle box is a Hawthorne. There are some identification marks on the lures. 1 says"Winchester 9024" Another says"C.C.B.CO Garrett Ind" and"Heddon Lucky 13" The 4th one is unmarked. This is a very nice antique lot.
